Against the Giants picture gallery is up!

I just don't understand why the quality of the minis had gone downhill so much. ...
This.

The next three sets were improvements on War Drums, though arguably not reaching the quality of sets pre-War Drums. Then, with Night Below ... ugh. Scaling got (even) worse, the minis lost significant detail in the sculpts (though I, possibly in the minority, liked some of the odder poses) and what is with the shiny, gloppy, paints, and severe curtailing of paint-steps?
Perfect, except for one detail, which I fixed for you. (Evidence the Guard of Mithral Hall albino dwarf with severe gigantism.)

I'm also unhappy about the choices they've made for inclusion. Why another Huge red dragon, before giving us a Huge green? (Or even a Huge black with no rider?) Why yet another fire giant? Here we are on yet our third owlbear. Blackroot Treant? Enormous Carrion Crawler? A third "inhuman angel" in as many sets? Are you kidding me? Why so many crappy Medium Rares?
I agree with you about the dragons, less so with regards to the rest. (Especially those angels, some of the higher points of late; translucence placates me.)

...

Oh, and for those of you wondering about tiefling and dragonborn minis ... you'll be able to get them -- Rare or not -- for $2 each. Maybe less.
As far as dragonborn go, this does not reflect the current prices on eBay. At all.

Seriously, shape up, DDM. Your old stuff rocked, but now suck is the dominant factor in your sets.

I am now glad I don't allow tieflings or dragonborn in my campaign... don't have to worry about trying to pay $20 for a mini that should be a common...

Haven't seen a set that has made me go "WOW!!!!" since War of the Dragon Queen (only cases I've bought so far.)

The quickest way to get WOTC to stop making all the good / wanted mini's RARE is to stop buying the minis...companies will always nickle and dime you if you keep buying there stuff despite your like or dislike of something....look back at the videogame industry when they tried to FORCE starforce copy protection on players....the community rebeled and didnt buy there games...the companies QUICKLY!!! removed starforce from there games...unite people or the next set will be the same.

lol Have you seen what they're going for on eBay right now? $25 USD a pop. I shoulda got wise, like you, because I sure ain't gonna buy any at that price.

 Holy crap! I had no idea they had gotten so pricey! That's nuts! (of course outside of dragons I never spend more than $10 on any one miniature I gave up on cases long ago and just buy the singles I need/want. I have so many of these damned things that I hardly go above getting a few uncommons anymore).

First, people complain that there are too many PC race minis (MORE DWARVES?? ARGH!!!) and now the opposite. WotC can't win....

Well there are too many dwarves and I think it is reasonable to expect a core race to have more than 3 miniatures (one from a set over 12 months old) and at least one uncommon. Compare that to the dozen or so dwarf minis to date and many of them common to boot.

I love PC minis but there such a thing as too much of a good thing.

If you do a search on ebay right now for 'dragonborn' I see several instances of the new dragonborn figures from this range going for between $7 and $9. These prices will surely come down (the set isn't even officially released yet). The way that Reaper minis are going (with the price of tin fluctuating over the last few years) you'll be paying close to this for most of their 'reptus' figures.

I'd rather pay twice as much for a quality Reaper miniature and paint it myself than ever buy any WotC produced PPM. I'd spend more on a single mini from Reaper than for an entire expansion pack from WotC. Of course, the painting part of the hobby has always been a favorite of mine.

I purchased the original box starter set and a single expansion years ago. Every mini is still in the box in the plastic bags because the sculpts were horrid and the paint jobs even worse.

Every time they release a new set of their minis, I find my choice of staying away from them validated, and this set is no different. There hasn't been a single decent sculpt since WotC started their whole CMG ponzi scheme.
