Against the Giants Preview 1

There are 13 creatures in Against the Giants that are only playable in formats with more than 200 points.[/quot]
This is a change I'm happy about. 12 huges, but 13 figures that are epic only. At least one large or smaller creature will not be usable in standard constructed.

Why? They seem equally rare. If you get a case you get 3/6 Huge rares, and 6/12 non-huge rares. 50%, just like the regular sets where you get a case, you get 12/24 rares.
Hmm? Didn't the article say one out of THREE Huge would be a rare?

HATE the fact huge rares will still be chase figures, rarer than a non huge rare.

Statistically speaking, Each huge rare will have the same number produced as each non-huge rare, so no, they will be no rarer.

However, this set will have the same issue that the other huge sets had- such a huge chunk of the value of each booster is bound up in the rare huges that it will be folly to buy individual boosters- sure, you could get lucky and get 2 rares out of 3 packs, but you can also get no rares out of six packs, which would blow beyond words. So buying by the case is the way to go- you're guaranteed 2 rares in that case of six boosters.

Why can't they just print 24 (15r/9u) and pack two per booster (1r/1u), charge 24.99 a booster and be done with it? I guess that price point would scare away the average consumer. But it would rock for me.

Not so. There will be twice as many huge uncommons produced as huge rares.

Earth Titan

Does the Earth Titan correspond to the Mountain Giant as represented in Worlds and Monsters? If so, that would suggest some of the titans double as Giants. Maybe some of the rarer giants in MM2 and other monster books will get a write up as Titans?

Or maybe the mountain giant, as the biggest of them all, but the weakest titan (if the two are the same) will be the only Titan version of an old Giant.

Hey, they've got a little "Guess what I am" thing up now.

I think the first silhouette of the third row might be Cookie Monster.
