Against the Storm, ReRecruited Thread

OOC: Ahh, that clears some things up! :)

"I have no idea. You're from here, you should have a better idea than I."

So? What's Rahja's guess then (because I have absolutely no clue. :) She wants to know basically, if it's possible to Dimension Door upwards to get to Waterdeep, maybe even using multiple spells in immediate succession)?

Since she hasn't really done so yet (I simply assumed that, I think), Rahja will check her own belongings, whether she still has her own clothing and jewelry on as before, when she was in the carriage still.

Rahja then continues with some more questions. A plan is already forming in her mind, but she needs some more specifics to carry it out alone.

I suppose it's only business for you? What did you plan to do with that weapon?

Are you the leader? Does everyone here follow your command?

How many prisoners are here?

When do you plan to trade them?

Where are the other cells located in relation to this one here?

How many guards are here... in total... guarding the prisoners... and guarding the way to the lower floor?

Is anyone to be expected in the level below us? Who?

Is anyone to be expected inside the rooms, where the other cells are? Who?

What exactly is inside the treasury? Be precise, please! Also what containers are the valuables stored in?

What kind of traps are down there, and how are they sprung?

"You know me?" Ines asks as she looks over from the group that had just left the inn to find funner places. I don't know why I wanted to follow thenm anyway, though that woman was striking... enough so that this man's eyes should have been following hers, and not looking at me! I don't trust him! she thinks as she looks for signs of ambush... and routes of escape.

She excepts the drink, and fakes a sip before placing it back to the bar. She asks in a her soft lilting voice that has more feeling then sound "What do you want, and why should I care?"

She shifts her shades to look over them at the man directly with her black eyes.

He speaks small talk, but in your head, you hear differntly.

"I was hired to find you. Apparently your services are quite in demand. It seems that my employer needs a Talosan artifact stolen and destroyed. He is outside by a large red carriage."

Its not.

You do.

I suppose it's only business for you? What did you plan to do with that weapon?

I plan to give it to my mother. She asked me to procure it for her.

Are you the leader? Does everyone here follow your command?

Its complicated. My brothers are under my command. Happy controls Gaston. Happy and I are equals.

How many prisoners are here?

Five. The rest have already been delivered

When do you plan to trade them?

The Talosans will arrive in a few hours.

Where are the other cells located in relation to this one here?

All around it. The walls are suh that no cell can see another.

How many guards are here... in total... guarding the prisoners... and guarding the way to the lower floor?

Me, Happy, my two brrothers, the four other men with us, and four others like them, so a dozen

Is anyone to be expected in the level below us? Who?

No one is there right now to my knowledge.

Is anyone to be expected inside the rooms, where the other cells are? Who?

At least two other guards.

What exactly is inside the treasury? Be precise, please! Also what containers are the valuables stored in?

I cannot be sure, as I have little knowledge of the exact inventory. I do not live here. Some five-digit number of gold and several magical items.

What kind of traps are down there, and how are they sprung?

There are traps on the treasury if you don't use the key.

Ines gets up from the too tall stool with a grace that only a few have witnessed in a humanoid, and moves to the door , thinking I hope you hear this, my snooping friend. I do not like my thoughts read, and do not like being summoned! she walks to the door and opens it to head out and continues her train of thought as she sees the red coach outside, but I can also use the money. I hope you friend is paying you well, for you did your job, and I'm not cheap. The rest of her thoughts, she keeps to her self with practiced skill as she heads towards the carrage in a silent gait that brings her to it's door like a shadow within a shodow, the light absorbed into the black of her skin.

She knocks on the door of the carrage and steps back for it to open, her hand in her pouch of components, at a ready.

Two men step out of the carriage. She sees a driver hanging out by the horses in front of it. They are all dressed in fancy blue clothing and black cloaks.

One of the men who stepped out of the carriage says "Greetings. As my friend already told you, we are in desperate need of your presense at our base of operations. So, you're coming with us."

Suddenly, he strikes her accross the face with his fist. Ines falls on her butt, holding herself up by her arms and shaking her head, trying to clear the stars away. (Save v stunning fist = fail, 11 subd dmg). Through the haze, she hears the guy who hit her say "Sorry you heard too much. Good Nght."

The other guy from the carriage kicks her in the head (full power attack +crit, dmg =37 subd), and she blacks out completely.

Ines wakes up on a cold stone floor, and looks around groggily , trying to figure out how she got there. She feels the two painful swelling lumps on her head, and it reminds her that she was beat up by some guys outside the tavern.

There are three walls around her, and a fourth wall that consists of bars and a barred door. Her equiptment is not on her.

Freeing the prisoners will probably arouse more attention, so Rahja decides to go for the treasury first. Buffing herself with a couple spells (Shield, Mage Armor and False Life) she then casts Polymorph Self to turn into a Pixie, takes the key from Danilo, ordering him to stay and wait for her. Then she casts Invisibility and Blink and moves down through the floor into the lower level towards the treasury, where the key has to be used.

Everything goes according to plan. The trap door opens and Rahja flies down a flight of stairs. There is currency of all kinds in small amounts, as well as a large stock of gold bars. In a corner is a pile of miscelaneous probably-magical items that will take some time to identify. There is also a good-sized supply of poisons and illicit drugs, organized and labled.

Rahja will close and also lock the trap door to the treasury from inside, if that is possible, (she casts Light, so she can see something). After closing the door, a Detect Magic will tell Rahja, which pieces are really worth to be considered. She then packs all the magical stuff and the most valuable mundane pieces (jewelry, gems, platinum, etc). If she finds sacks there, she will use those (also filling one with any armor and weapons, as well as gold to be carried by Danilo), otherwise, she can change her robe, so she has enough pockets to stash the loot into. The gold bars will be too heavy, so they have to be left there, unfortunately. The drugs and poisons will all be emptied into a remote corner of the room, ruining them in the process.

When she is finished, she'll concentrate on her link to Danilo, to see if anything happened meanwhile, and if not, she will move back into her cell with a Dimension Door.

On to the hard part...

OOC: I'll just assume for now, that everything goes according to plan and continue right away... If not, the following will be done later, I guess... ;)

With another Invisibility and Blink Rahja starts to investigate the other cells. She will move through the walls, so she ends up inside the cells, take a quick look around, and if she is alone with the prisoner, whisper a few words to him or her...

Shhh... be silent! I'm from Waterdeep and here to rescue you, it'll take a few minutes to check everything. I'll be back soon! Don't make noise!

[If there is a guard present, she'll head back through the wall immediately, before she can be noticed and take a way around that cell to the next (probably going outside of the building and back inside, as she can only pass through less than 5' of barriers without problems).]

She will do this with all remaining cells and then stop her investigation in the cell with the most capable prisoner, from her own judgement.
