I know how you feel. I saw the Heroes of Horror book today at Borders and I happened to have a 30% discount coupon. Instead, I used the coupon and a $50 bill on a d20-based AGoT RPG (list price $49.95).Odhanan said:Weird. I've looked at it several times, and each time I passed to choose some other sourcebook instead.
What do you find so awesome in this book?
Hah. Well, the only thing that I can think of which might appeal to someone who doesn't like horror are the classes - there's nothing about the archivist or dread necromancer, nor any of the prestige classes, which require you to be playing a horror-oriented campaign. There's plenty of necromancers raising corpses and possessed of a deadly touch in non-horror sword-and-sorcery stories, for instance.Ranger REG said:Maybe you can convince me why I should pick it up.![]()
Agree with Whisperfoot. HoB was fair to above average, but HoH beats it hands down, both in flavor, and usable crunch.
Odhanan said:Really, I suppose like Ranger REG, I'd like to understand what material in HoH you find so great in terms of flavor, and in terms of crunch. What materials are you referring to specifically (by "you", I mean all you guys who love the book)? Please?
What is in HoH that isn't in d20 already?
And what is so good about this Archivist? Is he some kind of sage ... or does he collect bodies?drothgery said:Archivists. And archivists are really, really cool.
