AI/LLMs AI art bans are going to ruin small 3rd party creators

I'll try again. There is two possibilities:

You now how to draw a picture, in other words you know at least somewhat how you can materialize on screen an image you have in your head. In this case, you will be able to direct an AI to make this picture, which will be yours, because the AI was useless in this case. You could have made it yourself, with less efforts, at least in parts (and the parts you asked the AI to draw will not be your work).

OR

You don't know how to draw a picture. In this case you will NOT be able to ask the AI exactly what it needs to realize this vision of yours, because this vision doesn't yet have lines, textures, matter, techniques, framing, composition, nothing. All this will be provided by the AI and you'll just say yes or no, and the final work will NOT be yours.

There’s no difference between a prompt and what you calll a “direction”.
A prompt yields something outside of your control. Direction yields something within your control. I suppose we could call both prompts, but it would get confusing because control over the result is what makes all the difference.

This False Dichotomy is false.

I do not need to know how to draw a picture in order to tell(not ask) the AI to make the changes that I can envision. The final result will not at all be the original picture, but will be a very different picture that I envisioned and created.

These are just your own made up definitions, though.
Not really. Control vs. no control isn't made up by me. I can enter a prompt and just let an AI run wild, having no control. Or I can take an image, even one not supplied by the AI, and then spend hours and hours, changing hundreds or even thousands of details via the AI tool, and have total control.

Calling one "direction" and the other "prompts" is made up by me, because it's important to distinguish between the two. Do you have two more appropriate words so that confusion can be avoided?

I'm trying to understand the argument on the table. Maxperson has a totally contrafactual process that, in his opinion may, in some future date, yield a process that is not just a series of complicated prompts. When pressed he doesn't give any concrete answers and says that he doesn't actually use AI in this way but that it may be possible. Is this correct?

That’s not my understanding. No future date needed as far as I can tell.

What concrete question is being asked?

Heh. I just pulled up an image and started modifying it just to see. It can follow instruction as I have been saying. However....

1. It takes a good amount of time to make the image with the instructed change.
2. There's a limit to the number of images I can make per day.

I could do what I am arguing here, but it would take months at AI's current ability, not hours. I think that it will need to wait for the future, if for no other reason that AI needs to improve to make creating AI art practical.
