V for Vendetta is very faithful to the comic, in my opinion

Only superficially, visually. . .

The movie totally takes the complicated nature of the political conflicts of the graphic novel and turns it into, V the anarchist is good and the monolithic fascist government is bad. It has no nuance and it does the comic a great disservice by diluting and simplifying it.

V for Vendetta the graphic novel was a piece of work that made me reconsider and examine my own (anarchist) political views and placed helped place them in a larger moral context. V for Vendetta the movie is basically Star Wars done in a noir style.

Who's Dave Gibbons?

EDIT: Nevermind. Wiki is my friend.

For those that don't know.... Dave Gibbons was the comicbook artist whom did Watchmen. When doing the book they sought a cinema-style. He is a direct contact with the movie directer whom is helping to capture the mood and images of the comic to the movie. I hope he gets special credit for that work. And yes.... he is lovin' it.

I have seen images from the movie and they do line up perfectly with the comicbook panels.

The director wasn't orginally willing to do the movie until he heard what the producers were looking to do. The directer's take was this movie is about why being a "hero" isn't fun or glamorous. So he changed his mind and will now direct it if ONLY TO BE SURE IT IS TRUE TO THE COMICBOOK'S CENTRAL THEME.


I am looking forward to myself.

I guess he could takes his ideas to some place where he has more control (and would probably make less money) if he is dissatisfied with how his stories are shopped around and realized on film.
