You're not that old. I was 20 when it came out. Sacred the tar out of me too, though...of course there was Sigourney Weaver, too ...

Mmmm, Sigourney.....white undies......<blink> I'm back, sorry.

Seriously, there are a couple of you who saw this great movie in a theater? I thought they only had drive-ins back then? Huh. Go figure, learn something new every day. ;)

I saw it when I was 20 too and pregnant to boot. It sacred me so much my son was almost born two months early. :)

Alien and Aliens are both two of my favorite movies. I hope the rumors are true about a director's cut of Aliens I remember seeing on ABC I think a long time ago Aliens and it had some extra footage in it. Like finding out the Riply had a daughter who was now dead.

The Aliens Special Edition (with around 20 minutes of new footage) has been available on VHS and DVD for a few years now.

It includes scenes that talk about Ripley's daughter, the marines employing sentry guns to hold off the aliens, and several other cool parts.

Not to mention more cool scenes with the marines. Most notably Hudson: "We've got nukes, we've got knives, we've got sharp sticks. You could fry half a city with this baby!"

That's a question I have, I have only watched Aliens on TV edited or unedited on movie channels and I always thought the sentry guns were part of the original. Were they not?

Correct. There was no mention of the sentry guns in the original version of the film.

If I recall correctly, Ripley's daughter, the sentry guns, I even think that line from Hudson, while not being in the original theatrical release, were all part of the novelization of the movie. A pretty good read actually.

I love the first two films in the Alien line. Both are so different, but good on their own merit. So nice to see that a sequel can be made to an original film that doesn't try to just copy the first film. Granted, I'm not sure it can be done nowadays with Hollywood's current mentality, but still nice to see that it once could.
