Aligned Magic Weapon

Hmm, your right

"Some monsters are vulnerable to chaotic-, evil-, good-, or lawful-aligned weapons." I'm being convinced over to your pov now as I look it over more.
Like I said, I orriginally suggested it as an idle possibility, but the more I read the language involved, the more solid it looked.

I've done a long, involved explanation in the past that involves inferences from the text of Align Weapon, etc, but it comes down to "DR says a weapon that has an alignment overcomes DR", and an intelligent weapon has an alignment.

So I agree with Kahuna Burger's stance; an intelligent weapon which is Neutral Good but not Holy will overcome DR X/Good, and is not an eligible target for Align Weapon.

I believe there's a +1 enhancement somewhere that gives your weapon an alignment as well as +1d6 damage (on criticals?).

Book of Exalted Deeds has the Blessed enhancement (cost +1) which makes a weapon Good-aligned for bypassing DR and automatically confirms critical threats against evil creatures (this second ability being non-stacking, so will not take effect on e.g. a Keen weapon).

Which opens up some weird possibilities depending on your definition of "weapon".

Can I pick up the unconscious halfling paladin and use him as an improvised weapon to penetrate a demon's DR/good?

This is of course a trick question. The improvised weapon rules only allow you to use use objects as improvised weapons.
The halfling paladin is still a creature, not an object, even if unconscious.

It seems logical for me, I play that way.

only if he is a non-native outsider (3/4 kidding)

Sure Striking: +1 enhancement that overcomes good, evil, chaotic and lawful.

Magic Item Compendium has another that can overcome every type of DR, but it only sets itself to the correct type in the round after you hit the critter. It stays like that for 10 rounds (which is not an issue if you keep hitting every round). It's +1 I think.
