All 3 movies in one showing

Just got my 4 tickets! It looks like everyone tried to buy at once, though. There were about 10 minutes of panic when I kept getting browser errors trying to log in to the ticket outlet.

I understand that. The online order functionality for the Marcus theaters in Milwaukee and Madison was down, so I had to drive to the theater to get them. For the short period of time I was there, they had at least 10 calls regarding the issue. You could tell the people on the other end of the line were a little nervous about it.

But I got my tickets, so no anxiety here . . .

Turned out not to be an option out here. According to my friend who was in line, the big LA theater showing them sold out in less than an hour.

The marathon is already sold out at both Wisconsin theaters, and my browser can't even get to the screen to order tix for the "single" movies. Frustrating....knew I should have taken that job at Marcus Theaters years ago! :D

What did it cost you guys? Apparently the theater near me that's showing it is charging $35, which is almost the cost of a fourth movie at their normally high rates.

The price at the theater in Indianapolis was $40.

But it'll be sooooo worth it. :D

Ours were $40 for three movies and parking, but given their usual rates, that actually saves money over seeing the three separately.

According to www.theonering.net there's some other theater in California charging $25 per movie, for a whopping $75 for all three.

I'm going to Worcester, MA. to see the trilogy. They charged $25.00. Sold out in a few hours, two screens. Heard Boston sold out in less then an hour. Worcester is starting FoTR at 1:15 PM, end at 4:45 PM, TTT at 5 PM, end at 8:45, I assume start RoTK at 9 PM.

Well I'm in along with several people from my gaming group.

Based on 4 hour run times for the first 2 with 20-30 min betweeen showing plus possibly a smaller break in the middle of each film to change film; I'm guessing a start time around 3pm local to have RTOK start at midnight.

BTW - do we have any x / current theater workers here to confirm or deny the following?

I worked with someone that told me that the "Film Tables" (not sure of the exact word) most theaters use will only hold a little over 3 hours worth of film and that the first film was pushing this limit with out extra scenes. Which makes me belive they will have to break each film in to 2 loads so they will fit on the film tables.

Any thoughts?

It's been almost 10 years since I was manager at my local theater, but I seem to recall that the platters (the official term :) ) could probably hold 3.5 - 4 hours worth of film. Anything over that would definately be pushing it.

As for show times, the theater in Indy is starting Fellowship at 2:00 (3:38 run time), Two Towers at 6:00 (3:44 run time) and Return at 10:00 (tentative 3:30 run time). And no-one can leave the building between shows.

Arg!!! I actually had to work today and when I found time to go online I couldn't find them anywhere for my area. I go to call them now to order tickets only to find out they sold out in 10 mins!!! NO!!!! So now I have to wait and see if there are any scalpers selling tickets and for how much. :(
