As for show times, the theater in Indy is starting Fellowship at 2:00 (3:38 run time), Two Towers at 6:00 (3:44 run time) and Return at 10:00 (tentative 3:30 run time). And no-one can leave the building between shows.

Why not? Are they afraid of coming back in and sneaking in their own popcorn?

From what I understand tickets were availble online via Fandango at midnight eastern (9pm pacific) and were sold out some time before noon pacific time.

The Regal theater in Dublin Ca was selling the ticket for $35.00.

Has anyone been successful getting tickets for a showing at an AMC theatre. There site is back up after being down all afternoon, but the link to showtimes shows none on Dec 16th. It doesn't list as sold out mind you, it just isn't there.

OK, I will let it be known here and now: I will pay $100 cash for two tickets to the Dublin, CA or SF shows.

EDIT: I've been over to Ebay, and the only tix to SF that're showing up have jumped almost $30, to $102.50, in the last two hours. Now, I'm probably not going to be able to summon up the kinda scratch these tickets will be going for in a few days, and I wouldn't blame some of you with extra tickets in a month or two who'd rather rake it in on Ebay. But I'm holding out hope that my fellow EN Worlders will look deep down in their everloving hearts and see through to helping the TW out.

And just to avoid cries of "Communist!", consider the above price negotiable. To a point.

My tickets were $26 a piece (the extra dollar is a handling charge). I had to buy 5. Interestingly enough, the tickets weren't on sale online until just before noon. I also couldn't buy more than 4 tickets at once so I had to place 2 orders. They don't allow more than $125 worth of purchases at once.

Okay, the question now is - how early is everyone planning on lining up the day of? You surely don't want a bad seat for 3 straight films. ;)

I wonder if with the demand so high for these tickets if New Line won't allow a second or third showtime, or maybe even allow other theatres to show it.

Considering that they have been advertising it as a one-time affair, probably not. Also, this marathon will not make the theaters a ton of money. It is eating up one screen for a whole day and they will probably have to get more staff on hand (for a Tuesday) than usual. There will be some folks who will spend money on consessions (which is where the main money is for theaters) but many people will sneak in food or duck out to grab a quick bite to eat if an eatery is nearby (which they usually are in many places). Plus, the movies are extra long, averaging ~3.5 hours each. It's a guaranteed sellout but they will make more money showing Return of the King all day when it comes out the next day.

I'd be willing to bet than some folks don't care much about the marathon and will just show up for the sneak preview of Return of the King. Considering that many people don't get off work until 5pm, I'd probably say that Fellowship of the Ring will have the least amount followed by The Two Towers with everyone being there for Return of the King.

Our theater has assigned seating, which is nice, as we don't have to show up until 5 minutes before it starts. Of course, we also already know we only have mediocre seats, so there is a trade off...
