Some neat things:

Accerack has his own Stat block.

Dragons come in four sizes: Wyrmling, Young, Adult, and Ancient

No Archdevils or Demon Lords

No Eladrin, but we have Angels, Devil, Demons, Slaadi, Modrons, and Yugoloths!

Templates are back: Half Dragon, Shadow Dragon(!), and Spore Servant are all ones.

Ogre Magi are just Oni now.

Humans, elves, etc. Though I suspect that one of the appendices will have animals and humans both.

Dire animals, possibly?

I notice we've lost the destrachan from the MM, which was in the 3e and 4e versions. Also, I was hoping for a quickling.

But honestly, this looks like a fantastic list.

The Npc section will probably have the PC races in it. The Basic doc already has info on making elven acolytes, half - orc knights, etc.

The dire animals (dire wolf excluded) seem to be back to giant animals again.
