Beholder is a popular option considering it's a D&D original.. But I'd hope they wouldn't use the same monster twice, considering the Beholder is front and center of the 2014 MM. Perhaps an Owlbear or a Purple Worm?Gold Dragon PHB, Lolth DMG; I wonder what the MM will be?
Mimic is the other monster they're pushing for brand awareness. A big slobbery one seems like a real contender for one of the Monster Manual covers.Beholder is a popular option considering it's a D&D original.. Yeah, the solid red spine on the standard covers was such a terrible choice, I would probably have gone for the alternate covers even if their art was kinda meh. Fortunately, I’ve adored both of the ones they’ve shown! Hopefully the monster manual cover is similarly awesome.Don't get me wrong.. I like both of the regular covers.. Quite a lot actually.. But I love these. My favorite part is that they're different colors. The spine of the standard versions bore me to tears, so I'm glad that these will actually look distinct and interesting on the shelf, as well as on the table.
Static as opposed to dynamic, as in depicting figures in motion. I don’t really agree with that critique of this piece, but it is a legitimate critique to make of visual art.Aren't most images static? I didn't see the motion enable holo cover.
I wouldn’t call this moe…Eh, I can see the appeal of moe versions of stuff (to borrow a Japanese term) in general, but for this particular individual on this particular book, I don't care for it.
