Alternate cleric class

For those of you who, like me, would like to see a less combat oriented cleric as an alternate class (not necessarily as a replacement) what kind of class features would you like to see?

Trade lower HD for more skill points? Trade BAB for an extra domain?

Maybe a Cleric with HD d6 and BAB +1/2, but with 4 skill points/level and 3 domains.

I use hong's preist for noncombat divine spellcasters in my game. It's pretty good.

I expect my $5 in the mail by the end of the week, hong

I'd like to see a wide variety of specialty clerics, one for each diety - perhaps even more than one for certain dieties - it adds a lot of flavor and I've also found that it makes people more interested in playing clerics - not for the powers, but for the flavor.

The Healer class in the new Miniature's Handbook actually makes a pretty good "defensive Cleric"

If you want a Cleric that focuses mostly on healing and not much on combat, the Healer is what you need. If you want someone with all of a Cleric's spells but combat ability on-par with a Wizard though, it isn't for you.

I use a "Priest", which is basically just like the cleric except it has the worst BAB progression (like a Wizard), a d6 for hit points, has only light and simple weapons prof. feats, and in exchange gets 6 skill points per level.

I originally went with just 4 skill points, but that was too little, as most Priests didn't have high intelligences (since they put their highest stat into Wisdom), and so needed the extra 2 points to be skillful...

What if you want a priest who actually has spells that relate to his god's domain? I mean, really, why would a priest of Boccob be able to spontaneously cast Cure xxx? In 2E, the vast majority of my priesthoods had, at best, minor access to Healing. The 3E approach to instant cures has always chaffed a bit.

Has anyone had any experience with allowing Clerics to spontaneously cast domain spells instead? How did it work?

Other than that one hold-over, I thought Hong's Priest was a great replacement for Cleric. Actually, it's a great replacement for the Cleric, regardless.
