I'm impressed hong. How long have you been using this variant?
It's been around since not long after OA came out, which would make it roughly 2 years old. I know this, since I based the class on the OA shaman.

Ironically enough, I'm not using it in my campaign at the moment; I'm using the shaman itself (tweaked to fit into a non-Oriental setting). I've heard no complaints about it so far, though.

Has anyone had any experience with allowing Clerics to spontaneously cast domain spells instead? How did it work?

Other than that one hold-over, I thought Hong's Priest was a great replacement for Cleric. Actually, it's a great replacement for the Cleric, regardless.

Well, I had to make some concessions to the dungeoneering peanut gallery, you know. ;) Thanks for the praise (although most of it really should go to James Wyatt), and if you have any other suggestions, please feel free to contact me.

I am playing one in a Ravenloft campaign. I believe it to be considerably more powerful than converting cure spells, but far more flavoreful. We decided to forgo balance for flavor and simplicity.
I simply prepare a few healing spells instead, and usually reserve one for emergencies.
And yes, I picked the Fire domain.

I am only second level though, so I can't really say it has been an overly-extensive check.

Hong,

Have you run the cleric and priest classes side by side? Do you think that the two are totally incompatable, or do you think they might be able to include them both?

I like your class, but think I might make a few twinks Maybe some different/adiitional bonus feats (based on deity?) might make it all work out.

Otherwise, I love it as a alternative to the warrior-priest.

Personally, I prefer to keep the number of base classes as low as possible. This is to avoid potential issues with multiclassing, as well as for aesthetic reasons.

That said, I don't think anything will go kaboom if you have cleric and priest characters running around in the one campaign world. The multiclassing thing applies more to non-spellcasting classes, since they don't have to worry about caster levels and similar stuff.
