Alternate Favored Enemy (refocusing)

I've been using this alternate ability in the game I run for a few months now, but it hasn't seen a lot of use (mainly because we've been doing Pathfinder #4 and #5, which is giant heavy, so the ranger doesn't feel the need to change 'em much).

Any comments, suggestions, insights would be welcome, but so far I've found no snafus.
