Am I the only 3.0 grognard left?

I still love 3E and prefer it over 3.5, though I'm forced to play mostly 3.5 games right now because none of the DMs I know are still running any 3E games. :-( Thus, I am forced to play 3.5 whilst I bide my time.....I have to use the SRD and my DMs' books for 3.5, and I hate that. I'm not going to waste time converting my 3E books to 3.5, nor waste money buying 3.5 books (aside from a few books that I might consider worth converting from 3.5 to 3E, like maybe the Draconomicon or the Expanded Psionics Handbook). I'll only run 3E games myself, and I only play in 3.5 games that started out 3E and converted afterward (since I don't want to give up playing with those groups, as that would leave me DMing and never actually playing). Eventually, I'll turn my groups away from the dark side of 3.5 and back to the light of 3E, but until then, I can only bide my time and make do with the meager and troublesome playing of 3.5 whilst DMing my own 3E games...... I invested enough in 3E books and I'm quite content with most of them, houseruling the tidbits that seem broken, but not nearly as much as I'd have to do if converting to the vileness and stupidity of 3.5's pointless changes (and, on the note of vileness, the printing of the Book of Vile Darkness is reason enough for me to scorn the idjits who made 3.5).

I'm playing in a 3.0 game online, though the campaign I DM is 3.5. Frankly, aside from character class differences, I find the two virtually indistinguishable in play. 3E = 3.5E as far as I'm concerned.

Do you use and SRD also...?

Say it...

Saaaay it...

:p

3E for me. I've modified some changes from 3.5, but they are far and few between.

This may be due to the fact that when we finally converted to 3.0, 3.5 was announced 2 weeks later. We kinda of said a collective 'Nope' as well to the 1/2 version. :)

<disclaimer> I'm not attempting to be combative. I'm honestly interested in finding out how the 3e crowd works, and why. </disclaimer>

I converted. In my opinion the differences were so minimal that it can hardly even be called a 'conversion'. I'm curious as to what it is exactly the 3e folks like better about 3.0 than 3.5. The additional cost is inconvenient, but you could always just use the 3.5 updates that were posted with your 3.0 books.

How do you handle new material? I'm not aware of any companies producing 3.0 specific material. Do you just play the new stuff 'as is', do you simply convert the most obvious differences, or do you simply not use any newer products?

My game is so heavilly house-ruled that it doesnt make sense to change editions just for the sake of it.

Changing books just because there are some minor rules alterations that don´t change anything substantial about the game are a weird idea to me.

Specially when i already changed everything that annoyed me.

For my group it's not so much what's "better" about 3.0 vs 3.5 it's that we don't really see anything wrong with 3.0 and the core books are already bought and paid for. We just didn't see any reason to re-buy the core books we have and that seem to work.

For new stuff we just play mostly as is, maybe changing a few things here and there, but the differences aren't too huge. Also, since a lot of people switched to 3.5 our FLGS has a good selection of the older 3.0 stuff in the used book section for 1/2 price! :)
