What about facing was changed? Eh?

take a look at the shield spell and you'll start to see some of the changes. there are others.. but that would drag this thread too far off topic.

Are there not DR rules in 3.0? And what exactly are the DR rules in 3.5?

(sorry, I should know this stuff, but I'm experiencing a brain freeze.)

3.0 had high dr ratings based on the plus of magic, silver DR could also be overcome with magic.

3.5 has lower DR values but requires different things in general to overcome the DR, such as aligned weapons, cold wrought iron, adamantine, or combinations. Magic is a type of DR but plus of the weapon is irrelevant in 3.5 for DR purposes. Also DR does not give you the ability to overcome other DR. So more types of weapons are needed but the consequences of not having the right weapon are not as severe (all or nothing for effectiveness usually in 3.0).

All facing in 3.5 is square now, so there are no longer long rectangular creatures for reach/facing purposes.

This means some big creatures take up more space in a dungeon fight so you can fit fewer of them into a small room.

We switched from 3.0 to 3.5 almost entirely (hold person stayed 3.0 for two of the group's DMs).

I have a ton of books, but not the 3.5 core ones, I just use the srd for the rules info.
