I'm personally not sure why they get excoriated so much. I do get some of the individual issues but overall? I dunno.Oh, yeah. I’m not saying it’s 100% Mike’s shoutout. Only that he did give rather glowing reviews to both yesterday.

What do mean by a big discount? It has been $59 for pre-order on Amazon for a while. I just bought the alt-cover today at my FLGs for about that cost too.Release day for Planescape and it's currently the second best selling D&D book! After the PHB. At $60, a big discount already, ranked 225.
Not that its a new discount. It's 31% off retail. Yea I don't disagree it's been that way for a while. What do mean by a big discount? It has been $59 for pre-order on Amazon for a while. I just bought the alt-cover today at my FLGs for about that cost too.
Interesting. That is about what I paid at my FLGSNot that its a new discount. It's 31% off retail. Yea I don't disagree it's been that way for a while.
I noticed the amount of hype between the two products were very different. WotC only released a few videos for Shattered Obelisk compared to the many Planescape related videos some featuring special guests.Interesting to see where Phandelver is at I think back to back releases hurt this books sales. Just a conjecture.
I think Phandelver is pretty solid (Lost Mines is a stone cold Classic, and the expansion Dungeons are wild), but yeah, a bit more of a sedate product offering.I noticed the amount of hype between the two products were very different. I think WotC will definitely learn their lesson about the slipcase format...OK Planescape is #500 at $60 and is still the second only to the PHB now at #221 at $26.
