An Epic Setting

Well, that's currently the plan.

Hmmm... How many published all-OGC settings are actually out there?

(Not counting online settings like Tempest, which sadly seems to have fallen into disuse these days...)

I'm not sure. MEG's original setting may have been, and Bastion might have put one out. Nothing else comes to mind, but I'm sure there are others -- especially among the less-well-known companies. What about Dunham Studio's Elemental Lands? That might be, as well.

I think it sounds really interesting and cool. I think longer than 32 pages might be called for, here, but I'd love to see what you come up with.

This setting sounds like a lot of fun, but IMO, the setting's home base isn't as important as the adventuring locales. Info on the Consortium and their home plane would be good for background, but most of my players would never hear any of those details, because they wouldn't spend much game time there. Very few adventures take place at home base -- the real action happens out in the world, and that's where the detail needs to be.

Ferinstance, one possible adventure you mention is that the PCs can go save an alternate Prime plane from destruction. That's an interesting hook, but it needs a lot of work before I could use it in game. I'd need to create that alternate Prime, plot out its problem, develop its antagonists and their motivation, figure out why any existing defenders can't save it, and so on like that. Having a "home base" setting doesn't really help there; most of what the PCs see still has to be homebrewed.

Give me just the basics on the Consortium's hub plane, and a bunch more detail about the rest of their multiverse, and I'd be more likely to use the setting.

At the moment, I am trying to work out the best configuration for the Portal network.

Let's say that the portals that can be created by the Consortium are fairly large - about 10 yards wide - and that they are normally open at all times. And let's say that their portals connect to a few hundred different places across the planes, and that they will also use portals to speed up traffic within the demiplane.

So, what would be the best geometrical setup for these portals so that traffic moves as efficiently as possible?

I can't imagine running Epic in a Prime Material much past level 21-25. Planescape really is ideal. The planes offer an endless stream of Uber-powered challenges. Epic Cities don't really make any sense, thus why Union was such a PoS. Unaltered, I could see Sigil housing a number of Epic PCs/NPCs... all still having to fear the Lady.

Well, Primes do tend to have a few things that can challenge Epic characters - just not many of them. Which is why my setup should work very well - the PCs can be called up as "trouble shooters" for the Epic threats of one Prime, and then move on to the next once this one is dealt with...

Which sounds awesome! But I'd still file this under "Planar Adventuring". Epic PCs playing World-Police to the various Primes and occasionally taking a vacation in the Fourth Hell as a Spa-resort. :p

Epic Fighter to passing Pit Fiend: Garcon!! More lava, I'm getting a bit chilled. Oh, and send up some more Baatoran Firewine. Ahh, much better... now, begone!

I'm interested in what you're proposing, but I've never dealt with PDFs...
