Thank you for the clarifications Guardianlurker. Bartmanhomer, I really am lost , I have no idea what you are looking for here.

I know this is very cryptic. But allowed me to explained it to you. Heroes sometimes do evil things. Heroes sometimes evil thing like tkilburn explained the crime and punishment. Maybe this example will explained.

Raziel witness Orcus slain Pista Sophia dead. Raziel is enraged and beat the bloody heck out of Orcus. Pretty soon Orcus was beated up badly and pleaded of his lives saying, "Please I surrender." Raziel is saying, "You should have thought of before you slain the innocent of my kind, you patheic goat demon! And now you will suffer the same wraith just like you did to Pista Sophia." Seer show up and said. "Please Raziel that enough." Raziel said, You defended that demon, how pathetic." Raziel slain Orcus. Raziel said, "You should be more concerned and depressed about what that demon did to her, unless you want to join with him!"

Is that a good example?

@bartmanhomer: I assume you are not a native English speaker? That you are just learning English?

I appreciate the struggle you are going through in this, so let me provide a corrected version of your last post so that others may more easily understand it.

[I am going to change the names, because otherwise we will get bogged down on nature-of-outsider debates, and I do not believe that is central to your question. - GL]

Alfred witnesses Bob murder Catherine. Alfred is enraged and beats the bloody heck out of Bob. Pretty soon Bob is beaten badly and pleading for his life, saying, "Please I surrender." Alfred says "You should not have killed an innoncent, you demon! And now you will suffer the same fate as Catherine!" Daria shows up, and says "Please Alfred, that is enough." Alfred says, "You defend this demon? How pathetic." Alfred kills Bob. Alfred says to Daria, "You should be more concerned and depressed about what that demon did to Catherine, unless you want to join with him!"

Is that a good example?

It is.

It is a question that has been asked a number of times. So frequently, in fact, that I am surprised it is not in this board's FAQ. Variants of this question have been used a number of times by trolls as well.

Now, assuming your question is about an RPG's heroes, who are typically the mortal non-Exalted player characters, the general consensus I've seen on many boards is ...

"This behavior is not, in and of itself, behavior that instantly makes a good character evil. It does however, indicate a potential problem, and as part of a series of actions of a similar nature, eventually lead to the character's alignment changing from good to evil. The gamemaster is well within his rights to warn the player of the potential problem, and if the action is part of a series of similar actions, is justified in applying warning punishments to characters required to be good (such as good clerics and paladins). As always, your gamemaster's opinion may be different, so you should check with him to be sure."

As twofalls and I discussed earlier in this thread, Exalted characters (as described in the Book of Exalted Deeds) should be held to higher standards, and the action you describe would probably result in an Exalted character's loss of Exalted status, at least temporarily.

To get a feel for all of the issues involved in this subject (which I have merely summarized), do a subject-based search on the words "Paladin" or "Alignment". A lot of those threads were started by trolls, but the better ones will provide all the info you need.

But your original example used Outsiders. And opinion on that subject is much more divided. One fairly large camp holds the opinion that Outsiders are the actual embodiment of their alignment/perspective, and physically and mentally incapable of taking actions that violate that alignment. At which point the arguments devolve even farther, and the only answer possible is "Check with your gamemaster.". The other large camp proposes that Outsiders are substantially similar to mortals. This also rapidly devolves, often into mutual "I-am-a-better-roleplaying-gamer-than-you" posturing. Here again, the only real answer is "Check with your gamemaster."

If you want to find out more about these issues, check out a recent thread titled "Why don't people like Planescape?", or something very similar to that.

Bartmanhomer, Guardianlurker wasn't making a value statement about you in this thread, so I'm unclear on what you are feeling sorry about. No insult was offered.

This topic has in fact come up many many times, and what he means by Trolls is that folks dredge them up from the end of the list after they have already been completely beaten and laid to rest. Well, attempted to anyhow. :)

When fighting through a dungeon, characters needn't switch to subdual tactics when they suddenly encounter evil dwarf minions. But if those minions surrender, it is best to take the prisoners back to town to stand trial for their crimes.

The problem with this is that it's a great example of lawful behaviour that really says nothing about good or evil at all. I can't imagine for an instant a chaotic good character taking this tack.

This topic may sound confusing but is it possible when a hero fight evil villains (and I do mean any type of villain) the hero was really going to kill the villain this badly, but however the villain wanted to spare his or her lives. But unfortunately the hero doesn't care and kill the villain anyway? It is really possible because not hero doesn't have this type of judgment.

AARRGGHH! my brain! it hurts!

please state the question more clearly so we dont continue assuming a hundred different things about what you ment.

Failing that maybe you should change your handle to 'Captain Cunundrum'

"If you dont control your anger...your anger will contorl you?...thats what you were going to say isnt it?...Not Necessarily"
