An Interesting Experience

Master Dwarf. I have not once "lorded" myself over anyone here. Those who know me know I treat everyone the same. Princess or pauper. This ingrate seems to think i'm not good enough to kiss his coucin's hand hello. Llewelyn says. I honestly don't know what his problem with me is. Lady Rowena I seem to have hurt your cousins feelings when we met. What do you suggest to keep this from getting any worse? Does he need a financier?

Rowena

"Nay, Eedrick needs nothing & no one. Or so he seems to think. He is a good man, and it is best to meet him on his terms. Simply avoid unnecessary conversation with him, or speak of things of interest to him. And don't goad him."

It seems to me that the Llewelyn's status alone is a goad too Eadrick...It seems to me that he has a dislike of authority figures, unearned power, and such. I suggest that we all do our best for now to accomodate his concerns, for all our sakes. The last tihng he needs is the suggestion that he is in need of anything from the Prince. Llewelyn, do you think you can try to deemphacise your status when you don't need it to get us things? For the good of us all?

Meanwhile she looks towards the dwarf and to her mug and says "One more?"

"Listen to the lass, m'lord, she speak wit' wisdom beyond 'er years," Granite says to Llewelyn. Turning back to Rana, he quickly digs out his pitcher again and pours her another mugfull, topping off his own in the process.

"Of course little one," he says with was seems to be genuine affection. However, he does watch her for signs of drunkeness (something he's never wrong about). Some people have amazing tolerances for alcohol, but it wouldn't do for her to get in a state.

Llewelyn thinks for a moment and then says, I'm sure you realise that this is not a good situation. The human will simply go off on a rant as soon as he sees me. I can no more hide who I am than you can Master Dwarf. But for the good of all I will try to be more a "commoner" if that will allow the mudbather to feel less inferior. You do realise I did not in any way start this? All I did was say hello to you my lady.

"Then you do things yer way m'lord, and I'll try t' 'andle the 'mudbather.' I reckon him and I got a few more things in common. Tha' way ye don't 'ave to deal wit 'im if yer don' want," Granite offers.

Rana downs the third ale and doesn't ask for more. Granite can tell that shes getting a bit tipsy, but she's generally good at hiding it.

Rana gets a bit flustered trying to deal with the nobleman

"Oh, that is soooo unfair. Its not about acting like a "commoner," its about not pulling rank every chance you get...And his problem is not about money or dress or hygene, and certainly not about feeling inferior...Its about him resenting those who have not earned the right to act superior. And though you may have, he hasn't been convinced of that yet. Give him time, and he should be."

Rana reiterates her previous suggestion

To All: "So, how about we all finally stop arguing and find somewhere else more comfortable. I kinda need to sit down for a bit."

Llewelyn stay silent. He has not in any way acted superior to anyone else here. All he did was give his name and act politely. He would have to start hideing himself within these people. Why Rana disliked him he could not fathom.

"Rana has a good idea." Calixte says, looking around at the faces of the group and smiling. "Perhaps it would be best if we were more comfortable. Perhaps part of the hostilities here are due to the lack of hospitality on our host's part?"

"Perhaps it is" comes a voice as a hooded figure walks in the door, politely escorting Eedrick back into the room with him. "I've been here all along, and I apologize for my deceit, but I needed to know how you would react to each other without any external forces around. I cannot say I am pleased by all the interactions... though I suppose it is the best I could hope for during the stressful first meeting of such a diverse group." He move to the side so that he is facing all of you, and lowers his hood, revealing an old, wizened face that seems vaguely familiar to all of you, though you can't quite place him.

"Come, come, let us find some more comfortable place to speak." He leads you a few rooms further into the temple, to a large room with chairs, pillows, etc, and sits in a chair facing the rest of you.

"I am James Alcar, I have been the advisor to both the Queen and the Emporer for decades." He stops for a moment to let that sink in.. "Many would call me a traitor, attempt to hang me for treason, but they have both known of my double-life for the last 5 years, and neither have done anything about it. You see I have been, over the last few decades, attempting to end the fueding between our countries, and lately it seems like I have convinced both of your rulers, though only because of a mutal threat. Unfortunately, however, it seems to be coming too late."

Clearing his dry, cracking throat, James goes on "A short while ago, the Princess Liriel of Degal was kidnapped. Simultaneously, Emporer Hoshira was poisoned. He is seriously ill, and the poison seems immune to magics. There were also several assasinations on that same day, though a few hours later, of very powerful and important individuals. I was surprised.. pleasantly so, mind you, that you had all been.. 'passed over', I guess the term would be, by these assassins.. Or have you been.. Have any of you had any.. troubles lately?" He stops and coughs a few times, then looks up at you, awaiting responses and questions.
