"Anachronisms" in your game

Also: tribal, coastal reggae goblins in the same game.

I like this one. I have polynesian orcs in an archipelago off the coast of the main continent in my game. Imagine what would have happened if the Vikings had been orcs and raided and settled Polynesia... Orcs in hula skirts sailing tricked-out outrigger longboats, man.

boggles the mind.

Well, there would never have been the Mutany on the Bounty becuase the crew would not have wanted to go back and canoodle with the native women.

I plan on using a similar thing, with regards to food though. If I ever get to run an Eberron campaign, I plan on giving the Lhazar Principalities an Eastern / Pacific Island flavor. That lets me toss some Oriental Adventures stuff into Eberron without too much trouble... plus, it lets me use some Eastern and Polynesian culture in Eberron.

Specifically, small shops in Sharn selling things from the Principalities, including variants on real Japanese, Chinese and a few Hawaiian style foods I learned about while living on Oahu. No other culture but Hawai'ians would invent SPAM musubi: bascially, fried SPAM slice on a block of rice, wrapped in seaweed paper. :D

For Eberron, I plan on substituting SPAM with that barbecued meat from... er... Droaam, I believe it is?
