D&D 5E And just like that, no one cares about Frostmaiden any longer

OK, maybe a bit hyperbolic, and yes, the announcement of Tasha's Cauldron is recent news, but I suspect the conversation will still revolve around Tashas and not RotFM. I think it shows that expanded character options get a lot more attention to adventure paths. Which makes total sense.
Yup, pretty much. We get a lot of adventure paths, but books stuffed with new player options are few and far between.

As an aside, how does everyone feel about reprinting subclasses in this book that appear elsewhere (like bladesinger, eloquence bard, etc)?
I certainly don't mind bringing in a handful of popular options from other, more specialized products. You shouldn't have to buy a Forgotten Realms book (the SCAG) to get access to the bladesinger, for example.

If the book were mostly reprints with only a little original material, I would find that deeply annoying; I would skip buying a physical book and just buy the new stuff a la carte on D&D Beyond. (Normally I get both the physical book and the DDB version.) But the other way around, with mostly original content plus a few reprints, is perfectly fine as far as I'm concerned.

It was more of a comment I heard from Nerd Immersion when he brought it up on his review of Tasha's. And it's a fair point to some, I suppose. For someone who buys all the books anyway it's moot, but if someone bought Theros for the subclasses, and then sees this where they could get the same subclasses and a lot more, they might not be pleased they spent the money on Theros.
I think in general it communicates that if you're buying a book specificially to have access to small pieces of crunch, you probably shouldn't do that unless it's pressing that you get it early.

I'm still really excited for Rime of the Frost Maiden. Preordered the Silver edition from Beadle & Grimm's and everything.

For me, I'm more excited about the DM stuff in Tasha's so far, but I get why they're reprinting some of the stuff from elsewhere. For one thing, it means that these will likely be options that can be used in Adventurers League, which would otherwise be limited or locked.

Doesn't sit right with me, and for people who bought those previous versions have a legit beef, IMO

I'd prefer they didn't reprint material. As far as I'm concerned for my use its wasted space. Reading the other post I seem to be in the minority.

To be fair, WotC have been playing it very coy with RotFM so far. The discussion so far has ebbed and flowed along with the trickles of information that they've made available - which has mostly been artwork. The spurt of activity stirred by the release of the Panopticon image had already pretty much died away by the time the information about Tasha's was released, and it will likely pick up again the next time we get more information on the scenario.

Personally I'm looking forward to the adventure. I'll be buying it on D&D Beyond as soon as it's released, and running it in our local gaming club's next session beginning in October (so I really hope it doesn't get delayed).
