Goblins and Kobolds!!!

*waits for groans*

Seriously though they work well together. Kobold sorcerers with Grease spells/wands/scrolls matched with Goblin rogues and crossbows. Kobold rogues also with crossbows and full ranks in trapmaking matched with Goblin fighters riding Worgs/Wolves.

Now anyone got any thoughts on that or other good race combo's?

It's hard to Believe that not a single person on this board has any idea on good monster or monster race combos!

take lord of the rings as an example... Humans fight in melee.. and Elf in range.. or Maybe go Dwarf melee, human with long spears.. and elf with bows... though elf-dwarf might not work well together... they are capable of everything u should need...

Gnome and Half-orcs if they ever commit a bond... the gnomes invent weird things maknig the half-orcs use... think or half an army of half-orcs using gnome make Guns...

If there are elves in the party, upgrade to ghasts.

Ghouls/Ghasts also work well with anything that has a stat attack - shadows, say.

Very true. and for that matter anything with ranged attacks that can stay out of there way.

I have seen a great one in a dragon mag that combined Ghouls/Ghasts/Undead with flesh with Yellow Mould

Yeah that was in the dragon mag as well along with necromancer and tarrascue and trap the soul.... kill the necra and face the tarasc or don't let the necro die and have him do bad stuff

Hi!

Once I made an Encounter with a Dark Naga (knows two 3rd Level Spells) and a Troll Barb. The Naga casts Protection from Energy (Fire) on the Troll and can now Fireball away. The Naga provides the brains and magic, the Troll provides the muscle.

Mind Flayer and Undead or Mind Flayer and Construct - mindless means immune to mind blast, which in turn means the Mind Flayer can mind blast every round, while the Undead or Construct mow down their targets...
Ghouls/Ghast and Mindflayer might indeed make a good synergy - the Flayer eats the brains, the undeads the rest of the body
Maybe a Mind Flayer creating Flesh Golem would also have a lot of "fun" (Flesh Golem don´t need brains )

Orcs and Elves make a good group - Orcs for melee combat, Elves for magic and ranged combat. Add in Half-Orcs for cleric support (no wisdom penalty )

Halflings and Ogres could make a good combo - Ogres warriors wielding reach weapons, Halfling rogues occupieng the unthreatened space and tumbling behind the enemy for max. Sneak Attack death.
