Andromeda Season Premiere - What the heck?

BTW, cute in-joke by the Seamus Harper character to refer Tyr as a "not-so Young and the Restless" (Sadly for the ladies, Keith returns to soap opera ... but without his signature dreadlock.)

Actually I thought there was another in joke. Dylan tells the holo-chick, "could you tell me that again without being so complex", but using words which struck me as being written by a writer who read the rumors that Sorbo is too stupid to follow complex plot lines.

The villian is Prince, from Lexx, the guy who came from the Fire/Water planets. He was also the elder vampire on Forever Knight. Can't remember his real name.

Nigel Bennet?...I didn't think he was still acting...

They basicly revamp and rebooted the show, Mogogg and the evil demon god are back, Trance whom they have wasted as eye candy for the most part is increasing in mystery (I am a good demon god).

The show is reaching and grasping at anything to keep going but hey, did you catch Mutant-X, it was almost a rerun of Andromeda! :)

I thought Mutant-X had been cancelled?

One of the things I've noticed about Andromeda the last season or so is that sometimes it seems as if the scripts were written at feature-film length, and had to be cut down for a 1 hour TV format. It feels like there have been huge edits that leave the storylines almost incomprehensible.

I really wanted to keep rooting for the show, but last season's change in direction left the show flailing to find its legs. I also agree that the loss of Tyr, both the character and the actor who played him, is a major blow to the show that I don't know it can recover from.

Spoilers to Mutant-X

Maybe this will be its last season!
Adam is missing (removed from credits) and turns out he was doing things to the team, not a bad guy but still not a good guy. The telepath is dead (removed from credits). New girl Mutant-01 controls light, knows a lot of what Adam was doing and who he worked for, she looks like the girl from Adventure Inc. Ekhart (sp) is back at least for this show as he dies at the end. The team is meaner, at least killing four. Fresh start.

Ah-ha! Is that the soap he was on? When I heard the reference, I was pretty sure that was the case, but I don't know jack about the horrid wastes of air time that are soaps.

Y & R is my mom's favorite soap. Okay, it's actually the only soap she watches. I've caught bits and pieces of it. I'm not interested in soap operas, but, from what I've seen, the writing isn't as bad as other shows and the acting is a helluva lot better. Y & R pretty much sweeps the daytime Emmys every year.

In other words, it's not Passions. :D

That said, it's still a soap. Things must have been really frustrating for Tyr to go back to a 1 hour daily show. From what I've heard, the work schedule on one of these series is grueling.

Getting back to the premiere, I thought it was so-so. I thought it was going to be a reboot and bring things back to the way they were before the horrible "rebuilding the Commonweath in the blink of an eye" episodes. Unfortunately, the Commonwealth is still standing. Not sure what to make of that.

But I'll still watch it for Lexa Doig. ;)

I loved the first season of Andromeda. It had so much potential and then somewhere in the second season (when whatshisname left) it just went bleh. :( Now, what do you mean it's taking after the last season of Lexx?

Is that the Fire & Water season? Or the season where they ended up on earth? The Andromeda doesn't show up on modern day earth does it!?

And now I hear Tyr's gone? That sucks. He was the best thing about the show. He rocks on toast I tell ya!

That was definitely the case with this episode. It was either horribly written horribly edited or both. It was very incoherent.

True, but they didn't kill the character off. They left things wide open for the character to return.

In some form or another - Make you wonder if they will not get someone else for the role. The question is will they use the character, which they just have not done.
