Andy Collins talks about the Revised Druid

Great! We have our new Cleric. So much for balance.

Would you care to elaborate?

Even with more offensive spells the druid and the cleric are hardly carboncopies of each other. I have a feeling a lot of the new spells will be geared toward boosting the druid for his animal form attacks (like the inclusion of Bear's Endurance and other statboosting spells to the druids list).

He said that about th ranger, too, just before we were presented eith the wilderogue.

But he was right...most people(yes most, I know there are always some that don't) DO like the Ranger. :)

Sounds kind of like the Everquest druid too me, but I have not played that game in 4 years.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to a change in the class, and so is my group.

I don't think of the druid as a tweener class. I think of it as a poor class choice if the campaign is not going to place the PC's in an environment that allows the Druid to shine. If the changes to the class remove or lessen this latter stumbling block, all the better.

While the Druid is unstoppable in the Wilderness, really, the class shines all the time.

I think the Cleric comment is referring to the possible brokeness of the class.

Ok lets think about it.. the new Druid can:
replace a Wiz/Sorc or
replace a Fighter or
replace a Cleric

I don't know. Just maybe, it could be a tweensy weensy little bit umm what do you call it? Unbalancing?

But, isn't the important question - will the druid be as effective as any of those?

By the same argument, a paladin could replace a Fighter, or a Cleric, but is he as effective in those roles as either of them?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Andy Collins talks about the Revised Druid

Unless they've changed the rules for animal companions, a low-mid level druid's animal companion is easily as effective as a fighter (at least of the barbarian high offense, no defense style) of equivalent level in combat. And that's without the druid doing anything.
