Angel 3/26 (Warning: SPOILERS!)

I dig Gwen and have from the start. I'd like to see more of her in the show.

I'm of two minds about Gwen. I do not want mutants and X-Men in my Buffy/Angel-verse. The instant they explain her away as something supernatural/metaphysical--her greatgrandfather was an imp, or her ancestors were cursed by a shaman, or something--I'll at least be inclined to give her a shot.

So long as she's a mutant who went to a "school for the gifted," though, she's simply an unwelcome intrusion in an otherwise fantastic--and (more or less) consistent--series.

Doesn't matter to me at this point what her origin is. Her character brings something new to the show that is entertaining and her storylines have been inspired and bring the show back down a bit from the whole apocolypse tilt. If they want to bring more mutants and freaks into the show (they have been in the Buffyverse since the start), so be it. I trust Joss will make it interesting.

Gah! Spoiler tag! Spoiler tag!! ;)

Spoiler tag added. Hey, when I went to bed, there weren't any spoilers. :) But let's be honest, you knew they'd be here.

Anyhow, I like Gwen. Suprised that Gunn went for her? I'm sorry, are you dead? :D

As to Lorne, we don't know if his powers are messed up or not. The group originally thought so, what with his failure to detect Angelus' aura. However, it's pretty obvious now that they had a confab, put two-and-two together, and then maintained the fiction. Most likely, they've assumed, as I have, that evil Cordie's spell was just to mess with Lorne's powers.

I'm both amused and confused about our evil entity, whomever it truly is. Angel has a point...it's flailing wildly, and isn't nearly as smart as we assumed it to be. Now, I'm guessing that the 'baby' is actually a developing host for the BBEG, which is why evil-cordy is so low-powered at the moment. She says as much an episode or so ago, when she says how this wouldn't be a problem 'in a few weeks'...i.e. when the baby has come to term.

So, what is the BBEG's 'big plan'? Ideas?

True, true. I just hate it when I know things that I don't want to know so I figured just in case there were any newbie lurkers around or folks that usually don't hang out here. Also, I was at work and feeling silly. :D

As for the "big plan" I have literally no idea at this point as to who is really behind the Evil Cordy thing. I still suspect that she never really returned and that she's still a higher being or something like that. Or maybe W&H are still involved somehow. I never thought they could be snuffed out so easily...

i agree with John, Cordy never came back. as for the W&H scene, we know they exist in Pylea as well, so it's not a stretch to assume that they exist in other dimensions as well. so i'm sure they're not done. maybe the real senior partners were pissed at the earth dimension branch because of their continual screw-ups and initiated this to cleanse the rank and file and implement a real appocolypse of their own. which might explain why Angelus was so important.

maybe john. Just wait till you start reading the spoilers.

Yes, to those who read my spoilers, you have to understand that not EVERYTHING is 100% because sometimes there are sudden script rewrites.

But ask john. I was 75% accurate ...

Remember Wesley's quote? "Sometimes it's not about holding hands."

Why did Gunn and Gwen "get together?" Gunn's a sort of outsider right now, who's getting high praise from a very attractive and powerful woman - who's also never known the touch of another person before. BIG SURPISE there! :)

As for Cordy killing Lorne, I didn't fret for Lorne for a moment. I remembered that Pylean demons cannot be killed without burning the body. A simple dagger to the heart will not kill one - possibly even enchanted daggers.

But I believe the the reason Cordy was found out was because of Connor - his newfound respect for Angel. He knows something's wrong with her, and I think Connor and Angel had a little heart-to-heart.

So far, this season has been good - damned good. Even if this turns out to be the last season on BOTH shows (Buffy and Angel), they are going out with a bang. Sometimes, it can be the best if a show goes out on top, because rarely do the casts of shows, or their premise, stay fresh and worthwhile for over 5 or 6 years - people change, and so do cultural moods, and careers.

I'll be watching all the way.

You've got a point there. It didn't look like Conner was buying the whole "everything happens for a reason so if I want six flayed virgins you best get them" speech from Cordevil.

He was absent from the final confrontation, though. I suppose they could have just not shown him since it's not like the whole team was there anyway. But they could be playing a deeper game where he gets to play countermole when Cordy escapes the hotel. It's not like they're going to get to capture and keep the Big Bad, or the mother of the Big Bad, this early.

Slightly OT, but most posters who care would be reading this thread anyway. This is from TV Guide Online:

LITTLE ANGEL: Angel star Charisma Carpenter gave birth to a baby boy, Donovan Charles Hardy, on Monday in Los Angeles. This is Carpenter's first child with hubby Damian Hardy.

I too thought this was a good ep. Liked the throw-away "Dungeons & Dragons cloak" like (and yeah, it was a nice enough cloak, hehe, but Lorne looks good anyway. D@mn that man has a nice voice).
I saw the trap coming a mile away, but still enjoyed that moment of "It IS a trap...right? Not Lorne!"

But, the ep. still stands out for Me as "The best night Gunn wil ever see in his life". I mean come on, Gwen has never been touched...anywhere.. and he's bedding her? He Can Do No Wrong! By morning she'll be calling him a sex-god. :P (My apologies to those too young to read that term, there just isn't a PG version of the phrase, hehe). And add my vote for liking Gwen a lot, too. Interesting character who was brought in initially very well, all follow-ups have been good, and she's gorgeous. hehe
