Anthony's end of day 11/11 post

First Post
Folks,

Anyone notice that the patch is not up? It probably slipped by unnoticed, it being Veteran's Day and all. Is my levity helping at all?

Alright, we worked our asses off and couldn't get it up today. So now you're asking - "what's so tough? You have the patch, just put it up!" I'm afraid its not that simple. We don't want to put up a patch that is not usuable by a large portion of people who bought the product and that is what we have right now. We are working on getting that fixed and we had hoped it would get done by today but... no dice. I promise I will keep everyone informed on a daily basis.

Stick with me folks, I'll make this happen.

THIS is why Anthony has big Mojo!

Thankjs for taking the time to:

1) Warn us that there was an issue you were looking to overcome.

2) Let us know the patch was delayed.

Wizards said that the patch would be out today, they deliberatary lied to everyone.

That's a bit of an exaggeration. Sure, they said it would be out today and it wasn't, but that means they made a mistake. Is doesn't mean that they lied. The intention is different. Hopefully, they will be more careful with the claims they make in the future. Since the release date is now unknown - we can assume that they will.

Well, KenM, I am going to say this here and now and try to talk some sense into you. Hopefully you will get the picture.

Why would you say that WotC deliberately lied to us? Are you implying that they knew when they first got the patch that it wouldn't be out today and still told us it would be today anyway? Or that AV posted this morning knowing that they weren't going to be releasing it today?

First of all, lying is a deliberate deception. When you lie, you have to know the truth and purposely not tell it. I am 99% sure that this is the case here. So lay off the lying comments.

Secondly, I am sure they made a mistake when they said the patch would be coming out today and then didn't. Not a lie, mind you, a mistake. I am sure they even tried to get it out. In your job, do you ever make a mistake and tell someone things will be done and they aren't finished by that time? Are you called a liar? Not likely, on either account.

Lastly, the fact that they are now actually speaking to us is a godsend. They have been silent for months now and to have someone like AV here to talk to us and tell us ANYTHING is great. I'll cut him a little slack. Why don't you?

Give us a break. Add something constructive, negative or positive or don't post. It is posters like you who drive the WotC people from these boards.

Well Wizards said on they're fourms that they were going to put it out today, and they did not. Last I knew, if you said you were going to do something and don't, then you are a liar. I do have to say that I am alot happier with Wizards feedback about it.

it's called software. Software has bugs that pop up. Bugs cause programs to crash. Crashing causes users to rant, rave, and scream causing developers to stop squashing bugs and deal with mad users.

I would rather have a patch delayed a few days and have ZERO bugs than having a patch out today and have dozens of easily sqauashable bugs that cause my program to crash like a bad nascar race.

HOld your pants on KenM, I am sure AV will have the app out when it's ready and not a moment sooner.

Actually, what they technically did was not "lying": it was called "missing a deadline" - which is something that publishing companies and software publishers do all the time.

I trust Anthony to keep the public informed. KenM, look at it this way: Anthony has given you more information in two days than Fluid has been in a position to give you for two months. Strictly speaking, that's a great improvement!

I'm I die hard nascar fan, crashes is what makes it worth watching:D . But you are right, i'm just dissapointed that it's not out.

Let them take their time and get it right. I wish they had taken their time and got it right the first time instead of putting it out in the shape they did. A day or two (or even a week or two) won't hurt as long as it works right in the end. I am thrilled with the fact that someone is even telling us what is going on, that in itself is a huge improvement.
