Anti-Minion Tactics

More lowered level minions sounds like the counter to this. And the once per round thingy with the warlocks curse helps.

And since magic items sell for one fifth and merchants routinely gouge, simply not placing this item means that the player has to pay through the nose for it in GP or Magic item essence.

Well, I wouldn't include the feat cost on there - is there any warlock who shouldn't take a feat that makes their curse hit two people instead of 1? That sounds like a total gimme.
That they have to be the closest may matter in lots of fights since the warlock is probably the one who was expected to snipe the leaders, controllers and artillery in back.

I think the winner is one of the Blood Mage special abilities. It's something like, when you take a second wind, enemies within 10 squares of you take damage equal to your Constitution modifier. Or am I remembering it wrong?

Also consider the opportunity cost--by cursing a minion, you're foregoing TIERd6 bonus damage on the opponent you actually do attack. You're basically being a controller instead of a striker for a round. You can also curse only the (1-2) closest enemies, so if the minions aren't the closest, you're out of luck.

Yeah, I don't see the big deal. Unless you're always able to target a normal + minion every round, you're wasting your Curse damage for that round.

It's a totally sweet strategy to remember when swarmed by minions, but it's not going to put the Wizard out of business. :)

Afraid of your minions getting hosed?

lawl

Watch out for Chain Lightning.

I think sending the minions in waves is a good idea. ('~' ) ( '~')

Actually, aren't there rules about the number of times per day a PC can activate magical items? So you might not be able to use the Rod of Reaping an unlimited number of times per day.

Some are, some aren't. (Also: Rod of Reaving.)

The Rod of Reaving has a "Property" that deals damage = its enhancement bonus when you curse a target. You are only limited in how many "Daily" powers from magic items you can activate - 1 at Heroic, 2 at Paragon, and 3 at Epic. Every Milestone you get an extra Daily activation.

I think it's a neat trick, but minions are like chaff IMO.

yah nice catch. I dont know how much i like warlocks being better vs minions than wizards.

Even at first level wizards get an at-will power that can kill 9 squares worth of minions, if it hits them. And odds are it'd hit half of them. That's far beyond the ability mentioned here for warlocks.
