Antimagic field???

this may seem like a dumb question, but i need to know for my game.

My DM ruled that AMF kills all magic in it. I said that i can still cast spells that would fall outside the AMF- but he said no.

This is not a house rule- but his interpretation of the spell.

So- since AMF has a personal range, can i have a AMF on and cast spells outside- like flame strike, or any other range spells?

and if an archer is standing inside the field, with +5 bow, +5 arrows (Gr magic weapon) does he get the bonuses from both, or just the arrows after leaving teh field.

he ruled he would not get the attack bonus to either (since fired in side the field suppresses both bonuses) and once it left, the arrow only gets +5 arrow bonus to damage.

It does not "kill" all magic within the field. Your DM's interpretation is incorrect. He may, of course, rule 0 it to work this way, but it is not correct according to the spell description. The sage, in June's Dragon 296, says this very thing about the spell.

I am not sure about the arrow bonus. I think I would give you the arrow bonus to your attack roll because after it leaves the antimagic field, the arrow's bonus is still there and will modify your attack against the AC of the target. You would not get any magical attack or damage bonuses from the bow, though. You would still get a +1 to your attack roll for the bow because it is still a masterwork bow. Same with the arrow if your DM does not allow the magical +5 to hit.

Then again it could be said that the bonus to hit is the magical piercing of the arrow (ie Plate mail isn't as effective since the arrow magically penetrates when a normal arrow would bounce off the armor).

Right Gromm. I guess you can describe it or think of it in many differant ways. Bottom line is, the magical bonus for the arrow should count towards the attack roll. My certainty for this is growing exponentially.
