Would anyone like to see a Role-Playing Game based on the bible? There is some really cool stuff in there that, done right, could make a killer game in my opinion. There is great potential for character classes, spells, artifacts, etc. Think about it, when is the last time in a D&D campaign that you saw a whole sea parted?

As for the one out there: consider this bait.

You know the topic for this thread should be changed to something related to the substance.

And I fell for the bait ;).

Oh, about the subject, I agree, though I never thought about it before.

There actually used to be a Christian role-playing game. I don't remember the name of it, because I never more than glanced at it. I remember that dragons were the personification of evil, and that there were characters that could speak with animals.

That's all I remember about it. :(

I remember when that was around. I want to say it was called "Warriors of Light", or something like that. PC's were called "Lightbringers", I believe. I could be off on these names, but it's close. Didn't it involve reciting bible verses to cast spells? I'm basing most of this on a review I read a long time ago. Dragons represented evil, and other monsters were personifications (creaturifications?) of various sins and vices.

Whilst there are some good ideas in the Bible for gaming, the sheer media hoo-ha and blathering and tedious arguing would be so utterly boring that no one would play it.

Besides, can anyone really see it being done in a non-Church (NOT Christian) promoting way?

Hmmm...what I mean is this: I have no problem with Christian ideas (being generally nice to people seemed to be the point of the New Testament to me) but I do have a big problem with the various churches. Don't bother flaming me, I'm not going to be drawn into a religious argument, but there it is. I have a viewpoint, it's a considered viewpoint, hopefully people can respect that and not start arguing with me over it.

Never played the game myself, but yeah, it did involve memorizing Bible verses. If you couldn't remember the words to Psalms 14:12, then your character couldn't create peanut butter that day (or whatever spell effect would be tied to Psalms 14:12).

So the player had to memorize passages for the character to cast spells? And they say people who just say their character casts a spell are loony. My dad (who believes nothing is sacred) who hates fantasy and religion, once thought Bible D&D would be a good way to piss off the masses. I'm thinking about helping him make it if I can get him to actually do it...
