Any 3.0 diehards out there?

Just wondering if any of you out there would classify yourself as a "3.0 diehard," someone who loves 3.0 and has little or no interest in 3.5.

Anyone?

Eh....Maybe.

Really, I find the two systems very nearly the same for most of the game. I was reluctant to switch to 3.5, but was forced to when i changed gaming groups. I'd go back if I had the choice, but it's no big deal.

I'm still running in 3.0, with some minor houserules for things that may or may not correspond to some of the changes in 3.5. I've not gotten the 3.5 core books, nor will I likely ever buy them unless my 3e core books fall apart on me from overuse. I didn't feel like switching in the middle of a 2 year ongoing campaign so I let my group decide, they voted unanimously to stay in 3.0 rather than 3.5. When the campaign is over I'll give them the option (though it's likely that I'll run a game in a different system/setting for a while before returning to the same Planescape universe)

Well, I haven't picked up the 3.5 books, mainly because the changes didn't seem worth the fuss, bother, and expense. I have the SRD, looked at the changes, and mainly said, "So?"

OTOH, I am using Monte's AU now, so it is hard to tell exactly where I stand on this debate...

I wouldn't call myself a die hard

But we have for the most part stayed with 3.0 rules. I didn't see much mechanics changes with the 3.5 rules, and what did change was annoying. We do play with the updated classes and skills, but other than that it is 3.0 all the way.

So what were the sales of 3.5 like? Did it out do 3.0 or at least get close?

I didn't buy 3.5. I found it insulting. I'm not gonna buy a half-edition. I'll just wait 3 more years for 4E (well . . . two years now; and counting). ;)

I didn't buy the 3.5 books yet, but I switched to 3.5 when started the current campaign as a DM. Probably I will buy the books later if I find a hard discount.

However, in another gaming group where I am a player of 7, about half of the people don't even want to consider the option to abandon 3.0 (the other half doesn't bother much), mainly (1) because they know 3.0 well and don't want to trash all their tactics and (2) because they don't want to think they wasted their money on books which they cannot use anymore. We discussed about using 3.5 material when we started, and I was the one trying to support the improvement of the revision, but the only 3.5 thing that was allowed is the new feats - while the old ones stayed in 3.0 format.

Weeeeell, that's debatable. Personally, I found about half of the things they did really nice (reworked classes, reworked skill system, removed partial actions,) and the other half really annoying and unnecessary (new weapon-sizing, all critters now have square-facing, general spell wackiness.) So, when DMing I go with 3.35. :p

When playing, I go with what the DM likes, which currently is 3.5.
