Any 3.0 diehards out there?

Weeeeell, that's debatable.

Of course it is :) . There's at least about 20% of the revision that I don't like... including the weapon rules and the square facing you mentioned, plus some spells and some feats. When I DM in that 3.5 campaign, I accepted the 3.5 as a whole anyway, just as I did with 3.0 (the house rules I am using are something that I am not even sure if I should call them HR...).

Enough of my players finally got the new books that it was compelling to switch to the new books as the "default resource." There are still a large swath of rules I hold out on: cover/concealment, face/reach, many of the spell revisions and spell list rearrangements, how pokemounts behave.

I thought the spell list thing was going to be a biggie, but I actually have no core book casters in the party. We have an Elements of Magic mage (actually, a rewriting of it to function as the second world Pattern Warden class), and other players are taking Second World warden classes, which seems to be enough magic to make them happy.

Our group still uses 3.0 and I've yet to see any reason to change. Most of the sourcebooks we use were written for 3.0 and not getting 3.5 means we don't make all that stuff redundant and we save money by not buying any new books.

There is nothing in 3.5 that makes it worth the additional investment.

Not a diehard, so much as a "late adopter." We've had no serious reason to switch completely, but we've been adopting bits and pieces in various campaigns, and sticking with core 3.0 for the most part.

I do not know if I would call myself a diehard or just a cheap old fart. I just recently started running a new campaign (well, about 6 months ago) for a group that until then had been running AD&D2e. I asked them what they would prefer to run, and gave a list of OD&D, AD&D1e, D&D3e, or D&D3.5. Pretty much unanimously it was decided that we would use 3e. Why? Because the DM and most of the players already had a copy of 3e, and I was not all that excited about buying a new set of books.

Now if I could just find a couple more 3e PH, I would be happy...

We're still playing 3e. A few house rules (the critical ones from 3.5) and that's about it.

We've been getting 3e PH's on e-bay for about $10. Just bought one for a new player.

They're out there to be had, cheap.

3.0 here. Part of it was that I didn't like some of the rules changes, like facing and weapon sizes. Another was financial.

When the revision hoopla started, they said we'd get some revised classes, some material from various splats put into the core, and errata and various spell fixes to solve some problems. I had visions of me getting the 3.5 books and handing my players a list of changes so they could for the most part continue using their 3.0 books.

When the changes actually hit, they decided to rewrite nearly every spell. There would be no list, because a 3.0 PHB is useless at a 3.5 table. While I could spend $90 on the core books (less online), my players would have a serious problem with replacing all the books, most of which were in fine shape. We had a large group at the time, and I figured the total cost to be somewhere around $300. Too much for a revision that I only liked half of.

I've gotten some of the 3.5 suppliments, and to be honest on the suppliment side I see little problem using The Complete Warrior or Draconomicon in a 3.0 game.

Sorta. I run a game based on 3.0 default, although I do have (and use) the 3.5 Monster Manual. My players all have 3.5, and have made a few adoptations from that (the fighter with a spiked chain specialty, for example, uses 3.5 Improved Trip). I have enough house rules, though, and it wouldn't really be fair to call it 3.0 any more than 3.5 really.

I really don't have a need for 3.5 though. If I were running a standard D&D game, without massive houserules, I'd use 3.0 as my default.

Just wondering if any of you out there would classify yourself as a "3.0 diehard," someone who loves 3.0 and has little or no interest in 3.5.

Anyone?

Thats me.

I never updated my campaign to 3.5 and dont plan to pick it up.

I may get sort of brought in due to some playtest i am doing for a game, which will certainly be 3.5 based, but for that i have SRD.
