D&D 5E Any info on next release?

You'd think so, especially since Mike's already a good chunk of that part of the map (and I'm willing to bet he's done the rest of it too). That being said, they've almost run out of Moonsea cities in which to base their Expeditions seasons - there's just Zhentil Keep and Melvaunt left - so if their plan is to stay with the Realms for the foreseeable future, they might have to move ... and if the AL moves to the Dalelands or thereabouts, that would provide even more incentive to a companion to the SCAG set in that area.

If Mike has done, or ever will do, a full, detailed map of the setting, I would get that thing printed out and hang it on my wall like a tapestry!

If WotC continues down the SCAG-type book route, I wonder how many we would see for the setting? I was originally thinking 2 more, given the division of the remainder of the continent in SCAG, but that might be too broad. I could see four more:

1. Eastern Heartlands/Anauroch/Bloodstone Lands
2. Unapproachable East/Old Kingdoms (with a peak into the Hordelands, I guess the Great Glacier and Sossal would be here too)
3. Lands of Intrigue/Lake of Steam/Vilhon Reach
4. The South, from Chult to Durpar.

That would divide the base setting (if they wanted to do Kara-Tur and Zakhara, those would be separate, along with whatever they decide is over the ocean to the west) into reasonable chunks without getting bogged down into innumerable regional accessories like in previous editions. Granted, the tentative South accessory may still be a bit too broad, but it does tend to be a bit peripheral to the setting as a whole...

Oh, and once AL is done with the Moonsea, the cities of the Vast might be a bit more intriguing than the hamlets of the Dales...

They could do four, two or none: who knows? Two sounds more wieldy, though, particularly if they ever want to do a Ravenloft Adventurers Guide, Athas Adventurers' Guide, et al.

The fav that the book divides Faerun into three suggest two more is doable; particularly if they make it a mite larger.

True, with bigger books it would work. But still, covering everything from Cormyr to Mulhorand and from Amn to Durpar each in one book does seem to be a lot of ground to cover...

Granted, I could also see them doing just one more "Adventurers Guide" for the (greater) Eastern Heartlands and just leave the rest for a putative FRCS, as the rest of the setting tends to be more "places adventurers go" rather than "places adventurers are from"...

Gotta admit, I'm surprised that WotC haven't give the public more of an idea of what's coming up next. That said, I do like this current release rate more than the 1 hardcover a month release rate.

Their stated reasoning is that they don't want to take attention away from an upcoming release by announcing the one that's coming after.

If the return of gem dragons replaces any chance of them coming back, then I would begrudge the hell out of them. ;)

I wouldn't worry about it. Every MM has to have Dragons in it by law, so by the time we get to the third and fourth one every type of dragon you can possibly think of will be in print.

So why haven't they announced anything now?
Are there any upcoming releases that have been announced?
Because the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide has only *just* come out? They probably want to give people a bit of time to digest it before getting them excited for the next big thing.

Yup. We all know about the next three products in great detail. But we had to promise not to tell you, which is why nobody's mentioned them in this thread! :)
