Just to clarify, AFAIK Gail is not using any IP to be sold to fund the memorial. All the memorial fund stuff is separate.

If true, that's too bad. The intersection of all of these things would accomplish much and please many. As to the raw nature of any notes, I think it would be most satisfying to anyone who has ever slaved over such a labor of love to see that even the top dog was still part of the pack. It could also be accomplished in short order with minimal obstacles.

I think the publication of the original maps and notes would be very satisfying. A good test case for this is Rob Kuntz's Original Bottle City, which is, of course, a sublevel from the Castle dungeons. I thought that was an excellent release, and I've seen lots of other positive comments on the module.

That said, I believe part of the reason Rob left the Castle Zagyg project was over this very issue: Rob wanted to release original material and Gary didn't, preferring to release a much more polished re-done version based on and inspired by the original. Since Gary was against it, I'm not holding my breath for Gygax Games to do it. But one can hope, of course.
