Any rules for subdual Coo Day Graw(Coup de Grace)?

You know, like the thump to the back of the head with the hilt of your sword like when the Dread Pirate Wesley gets knocked out by the man with 6 fingers in the Princess Bride? Or more specifically any reason you should not be able to do this as subdual?

IIRC, only with monk fists and saps.. ie weapons that normally (or can with no penalty) deal non-lethal damage.

There are no official rules for it AFAIK. But a common house rule is to make it work just like the regular CDG, except that a failed save raises your nonlethal damage to your max hp plus ten.

Actually as far as 'official' rules go - there was a recent question in Sage Advice that addressed this issue. Check the D&D site to get the latest version of 3.5 FAQs and you'll find it.

Basically Skip said that there are no 'official rules' on it but gave some suggestions for how to handle it. Basically it is an automatic critical hit and if the damage (non-lethal) isn't sufficent to make the victim unconscious he has to make a Fort save or fall unconscious.

Yes, the audible "s" sound is what I'm trying to point out. Like I say, the pronunciation transcription in my dictionary is actually "koo'de gras'h".
