D&D General Any sites to create a 2024 Artificer (EFA) Online for Free?

Looking for a site that lets us create an updated Artificer: Battle Smith (per 2024 updates in Forge of the Artificer) for free - and at least download/print the character sheet.

I just want to check our calculations and make sure we are not missing anything (my son is not playing online - they were going to use D&D Beyond but could not access it from school computers).

TYIA.

There won't be anything legal. The artificer isn't in the SRD. (NB. It's against EN World policy to discuss illegal options.)

If you're able and willing to provide your son's character's details, I could recreate the character on my DDB account to check the math for you.

I just need something to let me check my math and make sure I am not including a proficiency bonus here or there where I should not. Anyway, I will just use a generic spreadsheet that I found.

I think the D&D Beyond business model is a bit broken (and I am sure I'm not the first person to say this). I totally get why they need recurring revenue but spending $20 just to make an Artificer Character if I am not using the platform to play is a bit much.

I am coming back to D&D after playing One Piece Trading Card Game (TCG) for the last year+ and realized how much cheaper this hobby is. TCG cost a ton to keep up with new sets / card releases etc... On the plus side you can make back your money if you get big hits (we probably made money ultimately after spending many thousands of $$$ throughout the year).

Anyway, long story not very short, it strikes me how much less recurring revenue there is in this hobby for the manufacturers (and how much more expensive it is to produce content - not to mention the lack of diversified product-market synergies). So I get why D&D Beyond costs what it does but the value is just not there for me unless I used the platform to play.

Making a character with D&D Beyond is using the platform. There's no requirement that you buy an ongoing subscription. But if you want a digital book, you may need to buy a digital book. There's no necessity that you buy the physical book too (and they have bundled discounts to buy the physical and digital books if you really want that).

To be fair, I'd agree -IF- I had to subscribe on top of buying digital books.

Understood. Just unfortunate that all the other characters are free to create but the Artificer winds up costing $20 since it comes from EFA.

I mean it's amazing that we get the Basic Rules for free, perpetually, via the Creative Commons license.
But yeah, Psions won't be free either.

But I'm sorry that you're caught in this situtation, I wouldn't want to pay $20 for something I already have (if I'm not otherwise using the different format for it – I personally find it useful to have both the physical book and the digital tool; it's just too convenient imho).
