I am going to play a Gnome who is very found of illusions (class sorcerer) so it must be pretty "*clishey*" but the persona is that he is very upset by his hight , that is why he has learned the art of illusions to make himself look like normal humans do,he very charismatic and usually kind , but sometimes the idea of small theft might take place in his thoughts , as coming from a poor family. My character is pretty much a good person but i think he is missing that spark of some sort...
Do you have any ideas on how should i improve him.i am open to any suggestions. :)

I'd multiclass to rogue and head towards Arcane Trickster. That allows you to complement your illusions with disguise.

Why would he want to look like a 'normal human'? He's not human; he's a gnome. Unless he was raised by humans or lives in a place where gnomes are extremely rare, it doesn't make sense for him to be bothered about his height.

How about he just likes to use illusions to look human because he thinks it's funny? Or he got into some kind of trouble when he was younger and he's hiding from the authorities. Or perhaps he had a falling-out with his family and doesn't want to be associated with them. It all depends on what setting the game is in, too; there might be setting materials you could use to explain why a gnome would want to appear human.

And maybe he does a little stealing because he's a bit of a kleptomaniac, or he thinks he's helping to 'redistribute the wealth'. I can definitely see a sorcerer as a bit of an outcast who might not think there's any harm in taking from those more fortunate in order to improve his own lot.

The obvious answer is Master Specialist (Complete Mage).

The second obvious answer is to just kill a bunch of random commoners to make them fear your mafia ties.

Thank you for sharing your ideas with me ,
The problem with him being ashamed of his height , is because he worked as a tavern keeper and people usually made him feel special , pointing to his small size ,like he wasnt able to run the tavern.
The idea of being a little kleptomaniac is great , thank you , i will most probably use it :)

I am still open to your ideas =)

sounds like this is yet another problem that could be cured with liberal application of a mullet.

Edit: also, a moustache, prefferably handlebar.

I agree. It's weird that he would want to be more like a "normal human." Perhaps he would like to be a taller gnome?

You usually only run into that sort of identity confusion when you're raised totally outside your birth culture -- a child adopted out of South Africa by a white family in the United States, for example. Then, yes, the individual might grow up wishing to look more like those around her.

Otherwise a gnome raised in a gnomish culture by gnome parents and surrounded by other gnomes as a child isn't going to want to be like a "normal human." She might want to be taller for her race, or perhaps resentful of the way humans look down at gnomes. Trying to fit in the way you're suggesting hints at some pretty strong self-esteem issues. Have you considered sending your PC to a professional counselor?
