Anybody Already Starting their Ten-Page Fantasy Setting

Started it? I've finished it. And I have a good start on the hundred-page bible. And I've already started spending the $120,000.

Actually, I still haven't finished my one-pager yet. What time does the post office close? :D

Won't worry about the 10-pager until I get a call or email from WotC, if I do.

As it is, I have 20 or so pages of notes and ideas that I used to write the one page proposal, so I'm sure 10 pages will be no problem, especially since they're giving a month to do so. I expect to turn it around in a week, if that.

The 100-pager is another matter. :)

IIRC, the original proposition left open the possibility of more than 10 people going to round 2. (and more than 3 going to round 3.) if I were judging and received 6000+ entries, I'd seriously consider opening it up to advancing the best 50 or even 100.

you know the hopeful authors wouldn't say a word in complaint because 10 pages still really isn't anything compared to the chance of the prize plus the prestige of being chosen. and most importantly, it would be just as easy to pick 3 from 50 or 100 as it would be 3 from 10. it will really only be hard choosing from the last 5 or 6.

but still much easier than picking 10 from 6000.

I doubt it. Don't they pay you $1k for the 10 page proposal? I doubt if Wizards will shell out $50k instead of $10k all of a sudden, considering all the financial troubles the parent company has been having.

Look at it this way; there's only going to be one setting chosen anyway, so they HAVE to filter at some stage, and I bet they keep to the original 10.

They don't pay you anything for the ten page treatment. It's only when you get to the level of writing the "100 page setting bible" that any money starts changing hands. That being said I think the possibility exists that more than 10 could be asked to do a ten page treatment.

I didn't think about it. Yes, there is a serious chance that more than 10 10-pagers are asked. Not 50 I think, but maybe 12 or 15 or something like that.
