you know the hopeful authors wouldn't say a word in complaint because 10 pages still really isn't anything compared to the chance of the prize plus the prestige of being chosen. and most importantly, it would be just as easy to pick 3 from 50 or 100 as it would be 3 from 10. it will really only be hard choosing from the last 5 or 6.
but still much easier than picking 10 from 6000.
They don't pay you anything for the ten page treatment. It's only when you get to the level of writing the "100 page setting bible" that any money starts changing hands. That being said I think the possibility exists that more than 10 could be asked to do a ten page treatment.Krug said:
I doubt it. Don't they pay you $1k for the 10 page proposal? I doubt if Wizards will shell out $50k instead of $10k all of a sudden, considering all the financial troubles the parent company has been having.
Look at it this way; there's only going to be one setting chosen anyway, so they HAVE to filter at some stage, and I bet they keep to the original 10.
