Anybody else love Bards?

They're such a fun class to play.

Sure, they get shafted on skill points (they really do deserve 6/level), but they're a ton of fun to play, especially in a small group where the 'jack-of-all-trades' concept shines.

My advice to the bard-haters: Don't max out any skills, except 'perform.' Perform is just so important to the class, and having many skills, but none with tons of points really makes the character more versatile, while he'll never be 'the best' at any skill any of the other characters deem important.

Anyway, there's my little rant. :)

I have a 6th lvl Bard I love his name is Caltros the Witty and has been reincarnated a few times...he has been in a PBEM campaign (remember that Sigil :D ), Dark Age of Camelot as a Minstrel and in 3e....I may stat him out on our site, we will see. I may switch to a Paladin soon, everyone says they got the shaft and I like Bards so I figured maybe I will play the iconic "shafted characters" in each campaign.

Tag Trickster, when I retired him he was bard 20/ lasher 4. Bards are great. They are one of the most useful classes in the game. Sure, 6 skill points would help. Check out Path of Magic for some really cool Bard feats and abilities.

I always thought it would be fun to play a song-parodist bard with curly hair, bright shirts and an accordian. :D

Or, alternatively an actor/song parodist bard with a pony tail and a Glocenspiel.

I'm gonna play a bard with a GIANT FREAKING HAMMER and lots and lots of watermelons.

How about a Bard that just makes peculiar noises with his hand and his armpit? Or a bard that plucks his nose hairs?

Some of these sound like fun...

My D&D campaign is currently stalled but it had been running for about a year or so and the group's halfling Bard is an important component.

When the Bard was away for a while the group felt naked. They no longer knew the entire story of the dungeon or town or situation they were going into because their Bardic Ability guy was M.I.A.

As a DM, having a Bard in the group is a joy. I get to relate different parts of the world's history and back-story without a contrived NPC to relate it all. The Bard just heard about it from this book or from that drunken merchant at the Inn the other night.

Yeah, cool stuff.

Yea, bards are cool..

If you fix the way they cast spells
fix the skill points
and fix the way the musical ability works.

Other than that, they're way cool.
