Anybody else love Bards?

Bards are fine as-is. Nothing "broken". For every class there are some who would have done it differently. We tend to be creative types, here, so that's unavoidable :)

(But if WOTC had asked ME how to improve-the-not-broken-bard-class, I would have said 6 skill points per level hehe :)

I play bards. I love bards. Bards are better than beer. Which is saying a lot. With 6 skill points, they'd be better than... more beer...

Ooh, I love bards!

I just got to play my first 3e bard, Sarcastro, and loved it! Performance types included insults, tapdancing and ethnic jokes.

I've run npc bards imc that had perform in spoons and liquid-filled bottles (Zenvo was statted out in my Rogues' Gallery thread some time ago if anyone's interested).

Underpowered? I don't think so. Would a couple of extra skill points each level make 'em overpowered? Prolly not.

If you find them a little weak in your campaign, I recommend making new types of bardic performance available as feats. I have quite a few imc (Inspire Fear, Animal Song, Lullaby, etc).

Too bad Micheal Gill isn't on yet. He could have some cool things to say about what bard stuff is coming out in the Players' Guide to Wizards, Bards and Sorcerers.

You should post those, they sounded really cool.

Of course, the problem is that I'm not at home, where they are. Instead, I'm travellin' like a fool. Hey, don't you know that, by the way?? :D

I did, however, post them a while back, but I'm darned if I know what thread it was or when.

Actually, I'm not even dead positive I posted those ones. It may have been in a thread on why there are no good non-combat feats? Anyone remember? My com-pu-tar access is limited while I'm on the road, don'tcha know.

Ya. So far for bards all we have is that rogue book by wizards that dabbled in the Bard stuff, and some really good stuff from FFG (spells and spellcraft has some, but path of magic has a lot more). Still, I'm really looking forward to more class books on the Bard as I think it's the one class that really can't be over done, it's that versatile.

I love bards. Love em, love em, love em. I got to play a gnome bard by the name of Gnomeo for a short campaign. He was the worlds greatest lover, and found beauty in women of every species. Especially tall ones that wore skirts. I really wish I was able to play him longer.

Bards are not underpowered AT ALL if you play book standards. If a bard can buy any scroll he wants out of the book for the listed price, he can do some bad, bad sick things. Use Magic Device is a class skill for only the bard and the rogue, and the rogue cannot afford to have a high Charisma.

Sure, a bard needs lots of skill points. That is why their second highest score has to be intelligence. They don't need to be handed more skills on a silver platter. If they aren't willing to devote Int points, then they can suffer just like all the classes do.

Well Crothy, what little I know is there a new feat type for Bard (Bardic tradion) plus some stuff about bardic epics (what ever those do....) Other than that, I have NO clue.

Do you think the Bardic tradions are like the Sorcerer feats introdiced in R&R2? I think that would be cool and very good. Those feats can really add a new layer of depth to a character.
