Anybody use the adventure in the back of the Eberron setting?

It will be the introductory adventure IMC soon.
So far, it seems fun enough. Haven't read it completely, though.

Normally, I only run homebrew. But for a new setting it can't hurt to get the setting's flavor that way.

I ran it the other weekend with three first-level characters: a human artificer and her two warforged companions (a polearm-wielding barbarian and a greatsword/adamantine body fighter). The MVP of the group? The blasted goblin guide!

"Can anyone use a rapier? No? We'll give it to the goblin so he can defend himself."

So a goblin NPC, wielding a Medium-sized rapier two-handed, ended up providing more comic relief and cinematic moments than I'd imagined.

There are some spots in the adventure that can be hammed up a little - my advice is to use the locations to full advantage. There's LOADS of room for cinematic encounters, and some wicked cool RPing. All in all, it's one of the better intro adventures to a setting, and perfectly balanced for 1st level characters.

I ran it a couple of weeks ago. It was alot of fun actually. The only problem we faced is no one played a healer. The party was composed of a 2 year old Warforged Artificer, a dragonmarked human bard of house Orien who wants nothing to do with his father, a human psiblade raised in sarlona by a kalashtar, and a changeling rogue.

After the 1st battle a member of the party was unconscious, though stable thanks to using an Action Dice. With no healing in the party, they went to a Hospital run by House Jorasco. The group only had 2 silver between them though since they spent all their starting gold. So I gave them a week to naturally heal before having them be contacted by Lady Elaydren.

Otherwise it went really well.

I'll be starting it tomorrow. I'm a little concerned some of the encounters may be too much, particularly the horrid rats.. two monsters with AC 20 and a good chance of doing enough damage to put a 1st level character under in a round. I may either drop their AC to 16 or replace them with ash rats, depending on how well the party does and how drained they are at that point.

As a whole it sets a pretty extreme pace, which is making me regret instituting a 25 point buy.

Don't forget those action dice.

What I'm thinking of doing is using pre-generated characters based on the Eberron 'Icons' described in the character class section of hte book. That way, the characters have a chunky flavorful description of their character. Also, it should be a good way to present the new race/class options in the setting. I think I'll allow the characters a regional feat for free.
