Anybody using Benign Transposition?

We thought the newbie sorcerer was an idiot for picking this spell until she used it on our barbarian stuck in a forcecage.

We also thought she was stupid for picking featherfall (sorcerers get too few spells!) until she saved a bunch of us from slamming into the spikes at the bottom of a pit trap.

She's a smart one, alright.

I play a conjurer (summoner) and used the spell last session---once to rescue someone from a grapple (switched him with one of my summons). I see other similar uses in the future.
Swapping with a PC who has Freedom of Movement is cool useful as well. :]

I use Benign Transposition to move the injured out of harms way, and to get our slow full plate tanks up to the front lines. It is extremely useful for tactical maneuvering. Once when my wizard was being torn apart by a demon I attempted to use Baleful Transposition on another player to put him in harms way but sadly he made his will save. :]

That's what we tend to use it for most. Escaping grapples.

You swap the character with Freedom of Movement or in gaseous form or other "get out of jail free" effect with the one that has just been grappled.

My group in our previous campaign were looking at anticipate teleportation and the various transposition spells. By setting it up so someone is outside the area of anticipate teleportation, you can delay one of the transpositionee's by stashing them on the astral plane for 1-3 rounds.

Coupled with the PH2 conjurer alternate class ability, I recently had a character in my game do this:

Situation ... paladin fell into a 10' pit with a zombie at the bottom. Conjurer moves to pit (move action), Benign Transposes the paladin out and him in (standard action) then ports himself up to the edge (immediate action).

Same conjurer transposed the paladin with a recently ambushed and unconscious ranger.

In other games, this is a good way to get a tripped person out of the front line. I know there is the stand spell (as well as slide) but Benign Transpose can usually substitute for each.

So much for the trap!
