Anyone else buying the Dieties & Demigods even though they won't use the stats?

Flexor the Mighty!

18/100 Strength!
Gods are far above mortals and stats cannot describe them. But I still want to read the book and see the stuff! If it doesn't have demon lords and such in it I may skip it, but if it does I'll buy it for no reason other than a fun read.

Yup.

PCs NEVER run into the gods in my campaign world.

Hell I only use three gods and I made them up. So I have no use for thsi book.

But of course I will still buy it becasue I am week and pathetic.

I will probably buy it if it contains any kind of new rules or *quality* magic items, but if it just has a bunch of stats I'll never use, I doubt I'll buy it.

I'm 100% with you in that I think portraying gods as physical, destroyable manifestations (no matter how difficult it may be) is something rather ludicrous.

That's what angels, demons, devils and spirits are for. I think the idea of a god having an avatar at all kind of nullifies the whole concept of a "god," but I'm open to suggestions.:)

I will likely purchase it - if for no other reason than to have a pre-made parthenons and assosciated creation myths already put into 3e terms that I can use

Homebrew settings are enough work building without having to create the Gods as well - so if I can lift them from the book and change the names and a couple of details - bonus.

So Wolfen Priest......

Is it simply the semantics that inhibit you? If so, would you accept the notion of a strain of insanly powerful beings which are divinly morphic. In other words, would you ever accept dnd gods on their own terms?

Sure,I'll buy it Its a hardcover corebook from WoTC.I never used the stats in the original Deities and demigod/Legends and lore books either.but its useful from a pantheon point of view.I also hear this book is going to be somewhat more than the previous books were both in size and content with section detailing creating your own pantheons etc.

I'm buyin' it for the gods alone. Saves me the work when I want a new pantheon. :)

me too. :) past incarnations of this book have made good reference works before. it should be a fun thing to have. and even for those who never plan on actually fighting the gods, much less encountering them in all their devine might, i'm sure there are monsters, heroes/villans, magic items and spells aplenty.

20th level characters are far above 1st level NPCs and stats CAN describe them.

When compared to first level people of NPC classes, 20th level characters might as well be gods. From the stats I've seen, gods compared to 20th level people is basically the same as 20th level people next to commoner 1 people. In most cases, I can't see the stats being particularly relevant, but, then again, most campaigns don't reach teh point where 20th level threats are relevant either.
