Anyone else feel indifferent about the PDF thing?

The removal of the PDF's do not hurt me directly. I backup the ones I own, and I'm still kind of torn about PDF's. I'll need a really good reader to commit completely. It'll happen.

Having said that, my big issue is getting cut off from the OOP stuff. My other, and possibly bigger issue, is the folks who really like the older games getting cut off. That sucks. Alot.

I will note that the competition with older editions thing rings hollow. OSRIC and Star Frontiers and the others are still up and going, right? Has wizards gone after them? You can say it would be hard or dumb or impossible for them to do it, but really, if you already think that of WotC what else would stop them from trying? They have not.

I began slightly angry, but then the overreaction on this board turned me indifferent, mainly because i did not want to be associated with the overreactors (hey, i invented a new word!).

Still a dumb decision from WotC, but sometimes you really want to hide from D&D fandom.

I guess you can just lump me in with the people who just don't care about this sort of thing. I can't really be bothered to even feel the slightest bit angry or disappointed at WotC, since I simply don't think we even have enough information to say that this was a bad move that will lose them money.

I was honestly more annoyed at the fact that I couldn't find the PHB2 at a bookstore yesterday, and that annoyance was stifled pretty quickly by the fact that I was going to be buying too many other things that day to afford it at the time whether it was there or not.

The whole thing has made ENWorld a bit more unpleasant, though. It feels like these boards have been becoming a lot more negative and argumentative over the last year, and each so-called "PR mistake" by WotC makes it a little bit worse.

Do yourselves a HUGE favor and play a superior fantasy game instead of th 4e garbage. Try Castles & Crusades or Savage Worlds or Mutants & Masterminds 2e's new pdf release titled Warriors and Warlocks.

Thread crapping AND edition warring? We've got no patience for it at the moment. Suspended for 7 days.

With me it's the opposite. There are a number of people that reacted so callously that I am seriously recosndiering the worth of visiting this site. I'd have expected some sympathy at least for being cut off from purchasing older edition material that's out of print, but I should have known better - the edition wars are going strong still.

What, as in this thread? There's nothing callous here, I'm not pointing and laughing at you. No edition wars. Check the thread title. It's indifference. I just don't get why it's such a big deal. You haven't been cut off.. you want OOP product? Just scan eBay and similar sites, like I've been doing for years, like we all had to do before Wizards started selling it as PDF's. It's all there.

Sympathy that you cannot buy old products? And not granting sympathy for that is callousness? Distributors who lost a lot of customers suddenly and with little warning have my symapthy. Publishers who depended on advertisement on the distribution sites and sold their products in bundles along with WotC products have my sympathy. Gamers who are inconvinienced because they can no longer buy a game in a certain format do not have my sympathy. They simply should not need it.

I'm sorry that you guys are having a bad experience of ENworld as a result of the 'PDF debate'. Don't forget that more than 99% of the posts made every day on ENworld are nothing to do with this issue; A quick tour of some of the other parts of the site should reveal lots of interesting discussions which are much more peaceful.

Cheers
