D&D (2024) Anyone else hoping the BG chapter of the Forgotten Realms Adventurers Guide Has Rules For Surfaces BG3 Style?

Yeah a lot of it can and already is just improv. I've had AoE cold damage turn water into ice which created an ice hazard that you could fall on long before BG3 or even DOS did that stuff. Setting oil/grease on fire has been a staple as far back as I can remember, though ironically in this new edition they made the Grease spell non-flammable so the exact opposite of what the OP is hoping to see.
I allow an Arcana 'stunt' skill check, to modify a spell effect for this kind of improv application. If it sounds plausible but less than automatic ... roll a skill check. If it sounds like it would obviously work, then it just happens. No need to roll.

I very much doubt it: that is a mechanic from Larian's prior games, and a prune example of the sort of thing which computers are excellent at doing that would be tedious busy work in table play.

I wouldn't expect that much in the way of variant rule systems, but rather more prep material such as seen in the Greyhawk Gazaterr in the DMG or the short low prep Adventures.

It does not have to be a 1 for 1 adaption, but it would be popular. I don't think it would be that hard to do honestly.

Ah I see. Thank you.

Those sound like they’d come under hazards or traps to me.

Bit more broadly interactive environment. Exploding barrels, grease xan be set on fire. Weapons can be dipped in fire.

Fun with water, frost, and lightning as well.

Add equipment eg lightning cleric, sorcerers, frost sorcerer etc.

You can translate BG3 fun and games to 5.5 and kill adult dragons in 1 round.
