Well, now I'm confused because Paizo has specifically stated they need to remove certain magic items and monsters, and that necessitated the new printing. You're right though. The SRD is under CC.
You did not talk about monsters or magic items, but about 6 attributes.. Nothing to be confused about... Tunnels & Trolls had 5 of those attributes (plus luck) pretty much the year after D&D was first released and nothing ever happened, some things just are safe, others like chromatic dragons are more risky

Yeap, that little ditty is a fundamental misunderstanding being paraded around like a gotcha.

1 - it seems as if some people have fallen into the corner of the internet that profits off of rage. They only way to get out of it is to block those people who use rage to get their clicks, likes and subscribes. The individuals who have turned being enraged into profits don't need your support.

2 - there are no good guys in the RPG business. The medium sized companies still don't pay their people enough to live. Supposed good guy Paizo requires their full time staff to work a second job (usually writing for them) in order to afford rent within a 3 hour drive of their offices. They also have a history of sexual harassment and being a hostile workplace.

3 - purity purchasing is impossible. Don't expect that in any hobby.

4 - still hold places accountable for their wrong doing! No matter the size of the company -- if they do wrong the response should be to force corrections and improve the situation for players and creators.

It has become very fashionable to trash WOC as a streamer. Particularly since a [previously unheard of streamer] posted some heavily shared videos, picked up a few thousand likes and then went back to obscurity. I too am thoroughly sick of the sniping and drama being stirred up by people with a financial interest.

TSR was raised as a comparison but nothing WOC has done in the last 10 years has even come close to the way TSR or many other companies of its time behaved. It’s ironic that WOC which voluntarily allowed the public to publish variations its IP and make millions of $$$ is being compared to a company that sued fans for sharing ideas for homebrew without profit. They are in different leagues.

80% of the complaints are based on a lack of understanding of how companies work and the other 20% are based on genuine mistakes, that anyone can make. The problem is not that WOC is the 500lb gorilla in the room. It’s that it has a legion of commentators trying to make a fast buck by pointing and shouting.

Of course the mob is fickle - no one is talking anymore about how Paizo supposedly abused their team because of course now they’re the White Knights.

A lot of this all stems from three problems… firstly everyone things they can write RPG products and therefore has opinions on how they could do it so much better. We see that time and time again with criticism.

Secondly WotC are never going to or can never comment publicly and fully on most of the stuff because they have to show restraint - something that the twitter-sphere is not constrained by, so we only ever get one side of the story and a mountain of speculation (usually from people with vested interests or an axe to grinds.

Thirdly everyone thinks that D&D is played the way they do at their table, the way they like it and therefore they have very little patience for either change or plurality of ideas.

All in all it makes for a hot mess that’s not very pretty to watch.

not sure what you are trying to say, but some things are inherently safer (the same 6 attributes) than others (the same 5 chromatic dragons) and anyone with a bit of expertise in this will confirm that.

Yep, I've been tired of it for a good long while now. Some people have a really hard time seeing shades of gray, so to speak, and can't imagine a world where a company can be doing good things, and still have room for improvement.

The best advice I can give? Ignore the gossip you read online, and buy whatever products you like.
