Anyone got Dragon Magazine #332 yet?

I seethe with envy that someone actually sent in an ecology of the kobold article pitch, something which I've been "about to do" for two freaking years. Grats to whomever. Will be picking up the issue just for that. :D

And next issue has my favorite 1E demon lord of them all!

I wrote up an "Ecology of the Kobold" back in the AD&D 2nd Edition days (it was a special request, too), but it was ultimately rejected. Once I get my copy of this issue of Dragon and read this version, I'll probably post my old one over in the Story Hour forum. (I've been doing a lot of that lately - see my sig for details.)

And I have to say, I'm a bit surprised to see another "Ecology of the Behir" article in the next issue, since there's already been an "Ecology of the Behir" published in Dragon. I guess the current thought is that if it wasn't published under the 3.0/3.5 rules, it's open for a rehash.

I think putting interesting creatures off-limits because something was potentially written 15 years or more ago is a bad business plan. Now, if it's "The Ecology of the Gelatinous Cube," sure, but behirs are too damn cool to be put off-limits like that.

Not a fan of the gelatinous cube, are you? (Actually, "The Ecology of the Gelatinous Cube" appeared in Dragon #124 - one of Ed Greenwood's, if I remember correctly.)

I'm not saying that it's a bad thing to have new "Ecology" articles for creatures that have already had "Ecology" articles written about them in the past, by the way. I was just surprised at the change; for many years, the rule was that once a monster had received an "Ecology," that was it - it was off limits. (With the exception of "The Ecology of the Stirge" - the editor that approved the second one hadn't realized that Ed Greenwood had already done an "Ecology of the Stirge.")

I'm not NOT a fan of it, I just think there's a lot less to say about them than, say, the behir. Or the kobold, for that matter.

Can someone post the full previews of 333? I'm especially interested in the preview text for Noble Born in Eberron.

Ask and ye shall receive.

Cutting up the Dragon
Introduces Dragoncrafted Items, made with the new Dragoncrafter feat.

Just to nitpick, that feat isn't new. It tells us right in that feat's sidebar that it originally appeared in Draconomicon.
