Anyone got World's Largest City?

Heh! No, only is size and name is it similar. It's loaded with individual, intricate storyline and plots, interesting characters and well-described locations. It's actually not like WLD at all.

Many gaming books are boring to read. However, if a book is boring in play I tend to blame the DM and players more for that then the book. We had a lot of fun with WLD.

Really, now. These folks don't seem to think so:

Were you going to contribute to the thread, or just come and bash on a product without supporting your point?

In any case, I saw WLC at the store this pat weekend - it's definitely bread and butter gaming - good, solid foundations to lay roleplaying on. It's not as flavorful as Ptolus, overall, but it's much, much easier to work into an ongoing campaign.

Maybe Region A was the only one in the analysis....

Pity the first region was the worst.

I acutally kinda liked Region A. Possibly it was the way our DM portrayed it but I thought it had a cool, "Survival Horror" feel to it.

Although admittedly the 473 or so darkmantles were a bit much.

That I can't disagree with - A was the Region that needed to be the hook, the thing that brought everyone in. I'm aware of why it wasn't, and it wasn't deliberate...but it's a damned shame it turned out the way it did.

More actual commentary - Ptolus is pretty, and it's jam-packed with goodness. It's an awesome, incredible book, and, IMO, worth the price. WLC serves a different audience entirely - it's part of a campaign world - yours - and meant to be slotted in, whereas Ptolus is a whole campaign world in of itself.

Ha! I hesitate to ask how the GM tackled I, then...

Did anyone here used to have the City State of the Invincible Overlord? The original WLC?

I've owned every edition/printing of the City State (yes, including the much maligned Mayfair boxed campaign). To be honest, just sitting on a shelf, the WLC seems much better than any of them (I sooooooo wish I could afford a copy).

Oh, don't get your panties in a bunch. ;) The thread was getting buried and no one had really aswered the OP question yet. I honestly wanted to know what others thought and the thread hadn't gotten a strong opinion yet. So, I bumped it......albeit in an ornery way :] I'l try not to let it happen again. :heh: Actually, WLD wan't that bad, it just took a lot of work to make it interesting in my opinion. I doubt WLC will be lots of hallways with doors on the ends. So, it must be better. :D
