Anyone Have New Occupations or Talents?

I've got the d20 Modern and d20 Future books, and I was very impressed by the system, but there seems to be a lack of variety in the occupations and talent trees available. Has anyone created any new ones? Are there any websites out there with some fresh material for a modern of sci-fi setting?

Check out the Roles & Classes series that we have put out recently at RPGNow. We have also put out a collection of them in one assembled book titled Talent Trees Assembled. Check it out.

Dawning Star: Operation Quick Launch contains new talent trees and occupations, such as ranch-hand, spacer and xeno-expert. Talent trees include mercantile, radiation resistance and sharpshooter.

I should point out those listed above are not the only talents or occupations found in the book, just examples.

I think I know this guy . . .

In any case, Talent Trees Assembled is now out. But even though I want your money (no, seriously, I do!), there are likely lots of free resources out there as well.

Each of the classes released under "Roles and Classes" included talent trees, at least three for each, though most were crafted specifically for the class. "Talent Trees Assembled" genericized them, so they could be attached to any class.

Hope that's of interest.

Modern Players Companion is an excellent resource overall and well worth picking up. Now for the shameless plug :D Our own Martial Avengers supplement of high action, available from RPG Now, a purveyor of a lot of good and reasonably priced PDF material for d20 modern, covers occupations and talent trees for fast and strong heroes and may be of some use to you depending upon the style of game your looking to run.

On a side note, those continue a bad trend started by RPGObjects of calling chains of specialized class abilities for advanced and prestige classes "talent chains". So they aren't going to integrate into the Basic Classes.

For additional talent trees that do work with the basic classes, you can get Martial Avengers from maladin's Gate, 22 Talent Trees and Another 22 Talent Trees from Bloodstone Press, and the Psychic Hero and Mystic Hero alternative basic classes from Alternate Realities Publications, both of which include notes for integrating their talent trees with the six original basic classes.

I am wondering if you have actually seen the product of which you write. I would have to assume, based on your statement, that you are criticizing the product sight unseen, as the talent trees have been genericized--as mentioned above--so that they will work with any class, basic, advanced, or prestige. Some are not easy to obtain, as suits a talent tree designed for a prestige class, but all are accessible to all classes.

Cheers.
